Perhaps the problem lies with the complexion and the eyes of Mimi. Haha sorry if I sound too anal! But here goes nothing!
Mimi in your previous work (brilliant) has a smooth and slightly pinkish complexion that makes her look especially lovely. (Pink Ranger after all!)

Also the black part of her iris is smaller than the one u have posted above which makes her look innocent and absolutely stunning!

Haha really a huge fan of Mimi. I think u absolutely nailed her corrupted looks in GAIA 5 where she looks innocent, slightly naughty all while being sexy as hell which totally suits her nature that it would be such a shame! T.T
But the new outfit is awesome! Much better than skulls! Hopefully it will be the old Mimi wearing it haha no pressure

After the 3 years hiatus I am sure you would need some time to restore your old form and bring back the excellence in the gaia series! The pictures and teasers will be released when they are released! but I think after your data loss, from what I have seen your new sophie looks pretty much like the old sophie. but this Mimi is still a far cry from the one you previously designed (which I prefer). nevertheless, thank you for your hard work! we all really appreciate it I am sure! I am certain u will get it right and make gaia 6 even better than 5 (whew that will be tough after all gaia 5 really is terrific with all the beautiful characters)

I commented previously on the colour of her eyes and lips and those are just slightly off now. But it's much closer than in picture 1!!
If u look at the first panel in that page, the colour of Mimi's eyes are almost the same as her hair (which the colour I think u nailed absolutely in pic 2!!). But in pic 2, her eyes are more reddish with white stuff in it almost like a reflection of what she is seeing. Also, her main iris (the orange-red one) covers almost her entire eye perhaps in fraction around 4/5(the white portion) whereas in picture 2, her iris cover perhaps around 1/2 or 2/3 of her eyes.
As for the colour of her lips it is just slightly off. I commented in quite a confusing manner so I hope panel 1 from the page I referred to will make it clearer. In panel 1, her luscious lips are slightly reddish-pink whereas in pic 2 it's entirely pink.
Once again really great job G9 at trying to recreate Mimi (respect much). I think it is essential for the ranger's personality to shine through even though she is corrupted. I disagree with some users above regarding how badass and evil the corrupted ranger will be because from GAIA 5, Mimi's personality is one that is more bubbly, cute and naughty as perhaps compared to others e.g: emma (who bit someone's part off OMG!!) And I think pic 2 is so much closer to that (I can't stress how close it is!)
As for the the outfit, I think perhaps u can combine GAIA 5, pic 1 and pic 2 to make it awesome! For pic 1 I think the spiderweb marking and the jewel centrepiece for her bra is great (not the cape though haha)! For pic 2, I think her earings, spider marking at her belly and the spider on her shoulder is brilliant! For GAIA 5, perhaps u could use the back of her dress in the last 2 panels in the link above as it looks like the behind of a spider!
Once again G9 I think you have really outdone yourself again!!!

Because there are certain differences in pic 1 and 2 for instance pic 2 the spider marking and the spider on the shoulder are great! I am sure your next version of Mimi will be very close if not almost identical to the old Mimi! It's like 90% there!

The old model actually has a slightly not realistic model on the mouth, so it's worse when I want to put more expression.
I'll try to resemble her face as close as I can to the old model. But maybe I need to adjust her mouth shape a little to help me when posing her with angry expression for example.

I think colour of her iris can also be adjusted slightly to match her hair colour more (perhaps slightly more orangey) and the ratio of her iris to the white parts of her eyes can be increased just slightly. That's about it actually.
Haha no problem, in fact as I said pic 2 is already very close to Mimi in GAIA 5. I wouldn't mind if u used pic 2 as a model because it would be unrealistic to demand an identical carbon copy. As a matter of fact, the new Mimi might even be better than the old Mimi due to better software that u are using which could cause slight differences. Once again thanks for the good work G9! Am looking forward to Mimi ver 3 haha

Because in pic 2, it's a little more orangey whereas for pic 3 her eyes and hair are like dark reddish (I think the orange 1 looks closer to http://g.e-hentai.org/s/ad1722d291/580172-96 in panel 1 as the colour is slightly brighter). Nevertheless good work on the new Mimi it's like 99% already really good job! Love the outfit, love the looks.

The complexion and figure I think u have nailed!
However, here are some differences I managed to pick out. I would have to concur with the guy above about the hair, Sophie's previous hairstyle is a little more flowy I guess? And her hair was in a darker shade of black as opposed to now.

the difference is slight. But her surrounding iris is a darker tone of grey with the middle being full on black. I think the eye shape is also marginally different.
Nonetheless, good work! This 1 is pretty close to the original (totally unfair u had always been biased towards Sophie G9 LOL) The minute difference I think is just the difference in the shades of the colour and small differences in her hair and eyes

In other words, the distance from eye to nasion(upper nose) is too short. Maybe if the nose and mouth can move toward town can make better performance(i'm not quite sure)
It's better too have another face angle to check this.And the hair style and eyebrows performance is still a way from original one(Maybe it's just affected by the lighting or backdrop?).

For me I think the difference is only the shade of the eyes and the 2 sides of her hair which is tidier in gaia 5 than in pic 2 slightly. Don't know if you can understand it LOL. However, I don't know if this is perhaps due to lighting, angle, backdrop etc. I mean you are the boss G9 haha but pic 1 and 2 are very very very x 100 close.

But if u use this model I think it's fine as well. They all look so damn good. God do I miss GAIA. So glad u are resuming it G9. 4.tip of the nose, it is not protruding enough, this result the facial features looks a little bit "flat" when the face angle is 45 degree.

it's quite insignificant because not many ppl will take it into account but Sophie's skin around her neck and chest didn't really have pigments or mole on it she has quite smooth, silky and relatively fair skin (closer to prototype 2) although I suspect this might be due to the lighting cos like for example in Mimi prototype 1, the skin around her face really makes her look like an old lady

ReplyDeleteJust my opinion: I don't think the cape on Mimi fits. It looks like something added at the last minute. Why would she wear what looks like a travel cape when she's basically walking around in lingerie? Her shoulders being bare is already quite sexy in and of itself.
ReplyDeleteI think that too much accessory can hurt the coherence of the character's design.
In short: in case of doubt, make them more naked, lol :-P
Also, I love how the costume is partly constitued of webs especially around the arms.

I have just re-read gaia 5 to hype myself for gaia 6 but just curious, since emma was purged with the g-rays but then reversed again by puncturing sophie's neck and sucking energy, would u be playing around with her design? If you do, you can use this reason-the purge to explain it although Emma's design in gaia 3 was already very good!

Or did hiro's last minute reversal sufficiently corrupted her again. Sorry, not trying to influence your creativity or storyline in anyway but just saying that these are perhaps some points that could be interesting to explore for emma if you deem them worthwhile.
So hyped for gaia 6! Can't wait to see meg's corruption, sophie's corruption haha hopefully can get to see hers in gaia 6, corrupted mimi and corrupted emma!

DeleteI believe the biggest difference so far has to do with her eyes. She used to have really menacing-looking eyes.
She is still pretty, but she lost her evil look.
I see you adapted her pupils a bit to give them that snake-look, but I'd say you should go all the way with that, like it used to be.
This new hairstyle is not my thing. Mostly because she didn't have this much hair with her short bob style.
I have trouble recognizing her as Emma because of this.
I do like all other (new) details though.

i agree about the hair and eyes. I too prefer her old hairstyle and eyes. Not saying you shouldn't change it but this change is perhaps too radical. It looks too Chinese to me? (not being racist)

Just a suggestion about the snake though. Perhaps g9 u can consider using a king cobra to signify an upgrade if Emma is indeed getting one. I mean a king cobra is super deadly and super scary!

It is different if we are assisting you in re-creating a character as we can help to check for differences and inform u of them.
I think we can air our opinions and suggestions but what we say would only remain as recommendations for you to make the decision.
It is your work and you would have the final say on the story and characters etc. Can't make everyone happy after all.
Having said that, I must still say that the hair and the "face dots" doesn't look too appealing.

DeletePersonally, i like the corrupted form don't need be to far away from the normal form. Therefore i think that Emma's hairstyle is too farm from her original form. This makes her just look like an "another person" .However, the corrupted form of Mimi is a good design compare with Emma's. I can still recognize her by her hairstyle.

Her pink and smooth complexion around her face and cheeks is also very pretty. Contrast with the lime green eye shadow just around the edge of her eyes I think she really looks great. (In prototype 1, I think the area covered by her eye shadow is too big, and the colour is almost cyan which is sort of greenish-blue. I am not a snake expert, but I think the greener a snake is, the more venomous it seems?)

I think it is a little wasted cos in the first link her complexion on her face is really good! Perhaps the scales of the snake could start from her neck downwards?
Also, her hair in the first link is splendid as it exudes an air of mystery and intimidation where it covers her eyes slightly.
About her eyes, in the first link it looks really good as it is quite intimidating. I think it might be because the black part of her iris is quite thin and contrast a lot with the green eyes that almost look like a marble.
Her lips in the first link is also fabulous. The greyish-pink colour only further adds to her deadly appearance! It tells ppl that mess with a snake and you will regret it.
I feel that in prototype 1, the vibe Emma gives off is quite wrong. She seems extremely friendly. A snake is fast, the movement is sudden and behaviour is deadly and venomous. I feel that link 1 really is the best picture (in fact I think it's the best corrupted character pic u have made before!). Hopefully it will be a good reference.
Also curious, is Emma's tongue like a snake's one?

about her hair in prototype 2, it is a huge improvement from prototype 1 but it looks a lot like her uncorrupted form where her hair is neat and tidy which is pretty in her own way. but in the link for instance her hair is slightly more wild and is very black (perhaps due to the light effects)
then again the picture of Emma in the link doesn't show her full hairstyle so i cant judge that accurately

I especially liked the scales and the bigger part of green around the eyes.

DeleteThe skin on 1 is whiter, more aristocratic. It fits a serpent girl like her much more.
The long, darker hair fits also. Because it's darker, it contrasts better on Emma's skin. It looks more evil also. It is more sophisticated and it's something logical for Emma's corrupted form. On the contrary the hairdo on 'Emma 2' looks too much like her old one and reminds one of a schoolgirl.
Same for the eyebrows on picture 1 that look thinner, more sophisticated. They're way less out of place with her eyes.
The lips are too dark there. Their color on 'Emma 1' fitted better. Now the color doesn't fit the whole theme.
The only point I agree with you Just some guy is the point about Emma's hair in picture 2 looking like her uncorrupted hairstyle.

I would disagree with you on the point of her skin. I feel that from picture 2, the only place to perhaps improve on is merely adding in the "snake skin" and I would agree with those who proposed it to start from her neck down as Emma's face in picture 2 is very well done.
About the hair, indeed slightly longer and darker hair like the link I provided might be good but I don't think it should be like in picture 1 with the flowers and the bun up because it looks rather peculiar.
Indeed in the link I gave, Emma looked quite evil but I would think that perhaps it is just in picture 2 that she has this particular expression. I am sure even you would be able to make different expressions under different circumstances.
About the eyebrows, I agree that it could be just a little thinner, but not to the extent of picture 1 which doesn't look refined, it looks pretentious.
As for the lips, I find them to be of an almost perfect colour. Perhaps just a little lighter in the shade and adding the "glossy effect" which I quote from another person above would be good.
In conclusion, I would have to firmly disagree with your views Just some guy. I think G9 is by a large margin much closer to Emma in terms of her character and theme in picture 2 than in picture 1. Perhaps just a slight tweak to her hair and lips would make it look better. But the make-up, complexion and eyes I think he has nailed.
As for your views, I don't think claiming that it's obvious is the right way to go around it. We can disagree as we all have different tastes and preferences. However, trying to assert your view on others by claiming it to be "darn obvious" is rather arrogant. What is obvious to you might not be for others as we have different perspectives.
Not trying to start a conflict with you whatsoever, I am just saying that we can be respectful to each other in disagreeing without being so belligerent.
Anyways G9, excellent work on Emma picture 2, I think you are rather close to creating a fantastic version of Emma. Hope my suggestions are of use to you

as for my personal opinion i think pic 2 is really really good. in fact, it's sorta like an Emma in a midway corruption. maybe further corruption could make her hair darker and a little more untidy like gaia 3 opening page
i also find that the shiny lips is quite attractive
for pic 2 right, i don't think Emma had like moles of her face but that is quite insignificant though
anw for example in previous gaia, emma had a snake mark around her belly button just like how mimi has a spider mark around the same area. i don't think you would want to compel urself to having each ranger corrupted and have a mark all at their belly button. perhaps for continuity sake emma and mimi would have it becos they were there since prev gaia (maybe not for emma if she is getting re-corrupted) but for Leona, sophie etc i think maybe u don't want to limit urself to that g9
but at the end of the day, i will support any decision you make g9

I think prototype 2 hair looks better even though it looks the same as her uncorrupted form. The colour of her hair is good. But her hair is very thick which covers her right eye (which makes it very similar to Mimi where her right eye is 90% covered) that's why I think prototype 2 hair is maybe a lil better for me?

DeleteJust posted my reply when I saw your fourth picture. I take it back, the hair looks quite nice but it really depends on the angle. The straight shot for pic 1 and 2 doesn't look very good but when it's taken from the angle of pic 3 and 4 it looks actually quite nice!
But I still maintain about the covering of a large portion of her eye being very similar to Mimi at least for that part I think prototype 2 is better!
I think if her outfit for pic 3 and 4 could be a smooth texture rather than the "ketupat" texture, it would be quite lovely!
Also would love to see the shiny lips as though she had put on lip gloss like in gaia 3 first page! But no pressure whatsoever, I think she looks good without it just wondering if perhaps that enhancement would make her even better that's killing me XD

I also think the glossy lips in the link above will be a great addition to Emma's relatively dark lips to give it another dimension of appeal
G9 I would presume for her new outfit (the green 1) you were going for the snake-like scaly look but it looks strange when used as a clothing. The light green colour is good though
Overall, I think the look is almost there already. Just need a few more adjustments and it would be really nice!

the colour of the black part of the suits is full black whereas in prototype 1 its quite bright (I think maybe it's due to the light)

Also, their suit I think is more latexy and rubbery in nature like in the second link

DeleteI gotta say that I love Emma prototype 1. She looks like a mix of ancient Greek and Egyptian royalty only more evil. As for Mimi I kind of like the Mimi final?, it combines aspects of both prototypes and makes it look evil and sexy at the same time.

Not because of work, not because of illness or anything scary like that, but because he has no internet.
I'll spare you the long story, but the gist of it is that he needs to renew his internet subscription, and it takes a month to cancel his current subscription + another week for new cable setup.
So it'll be silent for a while here. Fortunately, there is nothing that prevents him from working on the comics; he just has no internet for 5 weeks.
it's ok with all the materials he has attached to this post, it makes me so hopeful and excited for gaia 6 to tide me through 5 weeks and more

Emma is my fave character in the series, love the scales on the origional gia 3 version, makes her look less human and more creature but I feel the scales in these pics look more fish like which is not good for her.
ReplyDeleteIn gia 3 she had a serpent like tongue too which was a nice toutch it would be a shame to give her a normal tongue back. Not sure what Genesis figer you are working with but I know Genesis two has some great controls for making long sinuous tongues, also there is this posable snake tongue prop on share3d: http://www.sharecg.com/v/68377/gallery/11/Poser/Poseable-Snake-Tongue-for-Poser-DAZ.
Also the fingernails in these pics look like normal long nails, please, PLEASE, don't take the girls claws away from them there are some claw morphs for both genesis 2 and 3 now (and fangtastic has been released for genesis 3 now too) hell I'll buy them for you if need be.
Anyway, love your work and can't wait for the next chapter, I'm sure it will be amazing whatever you decide on the characters :)
P.S I think an upgrade for Emma would be a great idea.
