Any chance of a followup to this great comic? Wasn't there rumours of a series of stories being developed?
ReplyDeleteThe comic has always been intended as a single issue. There are no immediate plans for a sequel, let alone a series, but who knows? Never say never.
DeleteI think the various translations into other languages does indicate the story has mass appeal, and that the audience would like to see other installments using the main protagonist and his corruption of known video game fighters.
DeleteThe very notion of having these well known warriors becoming subservient, corrupt versions of themselves (including uniform change, etc) is very intriguing to this growing fanbase.
Well, we're very likely going to make more comics featuring popular video game characters getting the corruption treatment, so that is something you don't need to be worried about. Our comics selection consists of a mix of original characters and existing characters and will continue to do so.

While there may not be a direct sequel in line, is there any plans to use Shao Khan in any future projects?

DeleteThe "secret ending" is just a deleted scene that was not meant to be part of the comic. These deleted pages can be found here on the blog, but that was just to show people an early draft for those who were curious.
DeleteThe person who made the chinese translation apparently saw these pages too, downloaded them, translated them, and included them in the translation as a "secret ending".
So they are actually pages that were not intended to be released at all. Translations to other languages also don't have them included.
It's handled pretty well, though. With the way the pages are put at the very end, even after the bonus pictures, it is clear to every reader that it is a scene that is not truly part of the comic.
