Because I want to deliver the best, the comic may be postponed.
As you can see from the screenshot, the comic has about 230 pages, but the result is not very satisfying.
I'm afraid it will ruined everyone expectation in the end.
But don't worry. I'm working hard to deliver it hopefully before the end of 2013.
And I'll put this "Beta" as another ending version, since it has a very different ending to the one I'm making now.
It's all my fault for this mess.

But on the other hand, the wait is almost over.
Everyone, do not be alarmed too much. It's just one (big) scene, but we do know what it should become. Figuring that part out is half the work and that's not the case here.
It's merely a job to recreate pictures that were made before.

DeleteThe current ending is a big mistake that you wouldn't want as the real ending. But because we're talking about quite a big scene with pictures that are at least visually very pleasing, it feels like a waste to simply throw them away.
make a new end but show us on our webpage later the other ending if it is not imported for the ending of G9!

I won't be too long.
Before all, I just want to say "Dark Hypnotic" your remarks didn't fall into deaf ears.
Okay now, first and foremost, I'll say this: I don't really have anything against the concept of hypnosis/mind control. What I have a problem with, is how it's been used in media in general, and in corruption comics in particular.
In a corruption comic, I want to understand what happens. I want to know to what extand the mind of the heroine is being/has been changed. Now, too often the mind control is used without any explanation. The character gets glassy eyes, a robotic stance, giggles. And it's done ."Okay, here is that. She just turned evil. Deal with it".
I have trouble accepting this.
I know how unrealistic it would be to see heroines with a strong character and great morals, turn "evil" without some external forces probably supernatural. That's what I'd like to see actually. But I'd like it to make sense according to the rules of this universe and the psychology of the hero. The nature and/or the fontionment of the corruptive energy could benefit from being explained or at least to be used consistently. As the psychological weaknesses of the heroines would benefit from being used by the villain. It's a combination of both.
Also I know sex is an healthy activity that doesn't turn you into an evil creature...usually.
But it does hold a deeper symbolic meaning. It's both an act that can be performed by two innocent "lovers" and an expression of our primal/animal selves. It's both beautiful and "dirty".
A sex scene with a villain should be degrading to the heroine, vile even. It should prove the depth to which the heroine has fallen or will fall.
After all, sex does represent a loss of control and an opportunity to lose the burdens and morals of society. (So yeah, it's a symbolic thingie). But it"s the author choice to which extend he associates it with the transformation process. It shouldn't be just thrown "there". It needs to be important to the plot. When the heroine "gives up" one of the purest thing she has to...well, evil it needs to mean something. Or is it a coincidence that most of G9's corrupted heroines are the cute virginal (or at least innocent) "types" ?
But even so I don't want to see a sex scene unexplained or "thrown there" nor should it be the only reason an heroine should fall. What role did it play in her corruption ? Is it physiological (does the sex induces a the transformation and then why ?) Did it speed it up? Was she infused with some of dark energy by the dark villain through it ?
The sex scene could perfectly take place after the corruption if it's not relevant to the physiological transformation. It would play the same role. Showing us (graphically) how the heroine is now fully dedicated to "evil". I'd be perfectly okay with it.
Anyway, there was a lot of points raised by Dark Hypnotic so much that I don't think I'll have the time to answer to all of it.
But in short:
Yes I think in a corruption comic, the process of transformation should show us the psychological changes of the heroines AND her new set of mind after it.
(Preferably in a twisted love relationship with her corrupter and having embraced her old fears but still not a perfect opposite to her previous self. Of course, that's only my personal tastes.)
And no, pschological stress probably shouldn't be the only reason of her transformation. But the role of the supernatural should be crearly defined/shown.
By the way mpgrey if you wish to respond too, you don't have to do it right now. Maybe after your work on part 1 is over ?

The reason I'm remaining silent is because I want to provide the opportunity to discuss with one another without barging in constantly.
Another reason for remaining silent is because I'm more and more convinced that we got it right this time in the comic, with "it" being the type of scene you want to see!
But I can think that as much as I want; I still need to wait for your opinion after you finally get the chance to read it.
The biggest reason for this comic taking an eternity to be made is because we wanted to put extra care in all the nuances in the various scenes. Trying to make the characters that matter as well-rounded as possible.
The whole psychological department should prove to be better handled than we ever did before.
But again, we need feedback first before we can claim that we "got" it.
Btw, today was a day well-spent. G9 used the entire day working on the last missing scene, while I completed all the text available to me.
I really don't expect it will take much longer now, although I'm not 100% convinced if we can keep the promise of getting it online before the end of the year. It's gonna be tight.
In summary: Marluigi is right with the way corruption should be shown. It is important that one really visualizes that the character has changed because of these factors. Making them horny isnt an good excuse alone anymore. It needs something else. Even if they change costumes, that alone does not mean evil. True corruption is in the soul and personality. I think it comes down to establishing strong definition of characters and then seeing them on the other end of it. Conflict with others who haven't "joined the dark side" is good to see how they used to be on one side and now are on the other. Corruption is about that symbolic nature of "one of us" and "not one of us". This is why it is important to show who they were, since it makes looking at them in their fallen state have a much more impact meaning. It involves all the attributes.
DeleteI think rather than just sex alone, G9 can employ a vast range of other means to corrupt and break the heroine. Normally the sequence is sex>break>corruption>transformation>sex again. However, by using more creativity, sex need not be a tool used for the initial breaking of the heroine. For instance, you can use friendship or the heroine's worst fear (e.g: the fear of death or certain creatures) to break them. It would be quite interesting to watch how the heroine embrace and accept her worst fear which can be a brilliant role in her corruption. For example, if a slight change in storyline in GAIA rangers were to be used, instead of breaking Mimi using a certain unknown gas, perhaps G9 could have thrown her into a pool filled with spiders (instead of blood). Assuming Mimi's greatest fear is spiders but would eventually embrace it, it would tie in perfectly with her transformation.
DeleteOf course the sex would still be imperative but it need not always be the catalyst. Perhaps the sex could be used to reveal certain dark secrets of the heroine such as her deep love for her fellow heroine.
I mean G9 is already very creative in his comics compared to other authors involved in the similar genre. However, I think more can be done in the mind break aspect, and finding ways to associate it with the transformation. For instance, I think Macxes has many interesting approaches towards the corruption even though they all eventually involve the bodysuit. Well the only problem with that approach is how exactly the transformation or corruption takes place if she accepts her darkest fears. If I am afraid of spiders, and I overcome and accept that fear...that does not make me any more corrupted. Instead that empowers me, as I got over a fear. How does the embracing of the fear actually turn a hero evil?
DeleteI like how you think outside the box. Your right, sex does not only have to be the breaking point. Look at Shadow Rangers and the Blue chapter. Sex did not technically break her, but she went in there mentally weaker than she expected and lost the struggle for her mind. There are many ways to try corruption. My preference is hypnosis/mind control, there is prolonged and slow corruption, machine corruption, and all sorts of ways. Heck you can venture into vampire type biting or even scarier possession like in the horror movies.
Now I think it is a challenge to think of new twists of ways to corrupt and turn good heroes into bad villain. But we can certainly keep the old and tried ways. Sometimes it works best. But lets not smother the way to death.
So whatever type of corruption is chosen, we need to see the reactions of the heroine and the repercussions on her psyche, if I understand well.

DeleteFlithy Fantasy was not bad. It was something different and it DID have corruption. More towards the end but had corruption. Maybe it was not something that was the normal method but it was good. Maybe not best but good. No need to burn it. It was far more entertaining than most of what you find on Mccomix. I give him points for exploring options. It paid the world justice and did a descent parody. Nothing that would win awards but nothing near as bad to deserve the phrase "don't go near Flithy Fantasy, kay'? It was terrible" remark posted above.

DeleteThere wasn't any consistency in it. The character of Tifa well known one to most of the readers wasn't used at all. We didn't see anything about the corruption: not her set of mind after it, nor her reaction during it. Use "mc" or "hypno" if you want, but show us what the heroine thinks of it at least !
Speaking of consistency what was the point of spending all the time in the comic on this hypnosis/mind control if the real change was introduced by the bitting at the end ? It isn't related at all. All that happened before was irrelevant.
Also it lacked erotism to an important degree. The sex scenes were pointless. (Who wants to have sex with a blank doll ?) It was even less erotic than Gaia 4 (not very stong on the sex scenes parts) while strangely, at least 3/4 was taken by sex scene or foreplay !
I'm not critizing by pleasure. But my honest opinion, regardless of the use of mc or hypno is that the comic was lacking. I don't think you can change my opinion on it. It just didn't do anything for me.
I guess It was still probably above mccomix standards but it just wasn't as good as G9's previous works. I'll just finish by reminding G9, that I'm always glad when you release any new work and that I'm in no way puting a blame. I just hope to give my thoughts that you can take into account, or not if you don't want to.

I will not defend Filthy Fantasy to be an amazing piece of work by any standpoint. It was not my favorite either. But it had potential and it did show something very important. G9 is capable of producing Hentai Parodies. This is not done in CG most of the time, and is done mainly in Anime, but G9 does have the capabilities to make good CG models of video game characters. It is a new path to explore.
DeleteNobody will argue with Shadow Rangers or Gaia. They are G9's flag ship, and it is his most developed. Your analyzes on FF was good and I can agree with most. But one thing I did want to touch on is the biting of the corruption. This was a different approach I do not see much. Hypnosis was used to just get sex from Tifa for the villain guy. While this was executed poorly in the comic because it was a flashback and had no tie in with the current situation, I wanted to point out the idea of using hypnosis or even any kind of seduction before the corruption was different. We just got done saying it was always the same process, however, this process mixed it up and made the hypnosis really just about getting what one wanted. Now it was done bad because as I said it had nothing to do with the main scene at hand. But the biting was more the precise way to seal the deal. It was the hypnosis and magic that was the tool to entrap her long enough and without much resistance to bite her and convert her.
Now it failed because, as you said, the process was done poorly. No emotion was attached to either the hypnosis, the conversion, or the after thought. The preset to the character Tifa is already established because she is well known. So that saves character development (something hentai parodies are great at doing because of pre-existing characters). But the process itself felt scattered. If it was a story about the vampire woman, show us that. But this attempted to jump back and forth from different villains at different times. That prevented us from seeing Tifa's corruption from the vampire. That was the downfall. It was messy. The elements were what we already love from G9. But he threw too much too fast and it resulted in us feeling like we just watched sex. The mess ended up losing what makes the hypnosis and corruption that both sides of the debate special. You need to show, erotically and smoothly, the key scenes to either side. The Set Up, The Preparation, The Process, The Climax, The Conversion, and The Result. Basically it boils down to set the mood of the villain and the dire peril they bring to the heroine, hit the heroine with some form of way to begin the conversion process either via hypnosis or just fondling or whatever to begin the theme of the event, have the meat of what is happen and SHOW US the scene and the mind set of the villain and heroine, show the moment when the conversion and corruption is ready to fully be put in place or happen, and then follow up on it to show us the before and after of the heroine.
I am not here to change opinions. I just defend what needs to be defended. Here I defended that G9 should be willing to try a hentai parody again, but be more careful how to approach as you stated. I like how people can intelligently speak about their fetishes and approach it with a discussion rather than a "MORE BOOBS!" mindset hahaha. I believe we should all remain open minded to different things but still defend our interests as well. If we don't, the comics will end up like MCccomixs, and we will all be miserable :)
I don't think the process has to be changed everytime. What's interessant is that each heroines are diffferent characters and it should be for this reason that the corruption process varies. Not because the process" must be different" but because as it's not the same person that's being corrupted: she would have different weaknesses, strong or weak points that can be used against her, and so, the villain must adapt. But I could see the same methodology used without any problem as long as the heroine reacts differently to it.
DeleteIt would be kind of silly for the villain to always do something radically different. I like a corruption process to be established and then to be slightly tweaked everytime according to the circonstances. This way it can surprise us while we still understand how it happened.
I'd also wish to go back to a point made by a previous commenter that you refuted:
The thing about heroine embracing their fear. I think it can be very good.
We all have dark parts in ourselves that we are afraid of and try to keep at bay. Even the most perfect heroine suffers from selfdoubt, envy, lust...
Here is an example of how it can be used in your comics:
A strong independant leader can have trouble supporting the pressure of her work and might wish (unconsciously) to be free to act as she will, to have someone take her "burden" from her. The villain can use it. Instill the idea to help her fall. It can be a "push" but obviously not the only reason, some dark drug or enchantment present for example in the villain "fluids" (blood, semen etc) should be responsible for it. And it should be explained to us. The villain can do it iself while talking to the heroine, teasing her with what's to come.
Also I personnally do like to see the heroine once corrupted kind of developing some relationship with her corrupter. It's viscerally interesting. See her adore the villain and what she thinks of herself and her friends before she got corrupted is just fascinating.

ReplyDeletePostpone is a big word in this case. It's just that neither of us can really predict when we will be done. Even yesterday, there was still a glimmer of hope that we could be ready today (with some all-night work).
DeleteUnfortunately, G9 made a little blunder with his cpu settings which resulted in his computer working at 50% capacity only. If that hadn't happened, I would likely be in possession of the complete package of pages right now at this moment.
Unfortunately, I'm not.
Depending on how G9 celebrates the new year (don't forget he too also has a normal life, just like all of us), I may or may not get the last missing scene today. Only when that happens can I review it, work on the text, and possibly ask for changes like small photoshop jobs or a new, more interesting picture to replace another.
So as it turns out, we have ended up -just- missing the 2013 deadline, but we're so awfully close to being done that I don't want to use the word "postpone". It's really any day now.
I expect the next topic on this blog will be the release thread, so when you see "I'm sorry..." has moved to the right, you know it's either being uploaded or already there.
Our sincerest apologies for taking far too long to get it done. Nevertheless, a good year to you all. Hopefully this time with nothing but excellent comics that suit everyone's tastes!
