It's been a while since I posted anything on this blog. Sorry. I tried to finish this comic as fast as I can, while also updating on Patreon, and I missed to update the blog >_< Still no released date yet.
If we only count the pages that G9 sends to me (the ones he is sure about) then we're at 404 pages at the moment. Considering the large number of pictures that I haven't seen in page format yet, he could easily assemble another 20 or so pages.
So that's were we're now. It's been a very productive week. I've been getting a new update almost daily and have put many hours almost each day into the comic myself. We're steamrolling again and it's a great feeling to see scene after scene being finalized. I still have no idea whatsoever how far we're away from the last page, though.
Glad to hear that, it's been a long time since we heard a good news like this. Though the release date is still unknown, but we know that day might really not be far away as long as you guys keep being such productive. Thank you so much for your hard work, G9 and MP!

Hiya, Simmie, it's been a while. Thanks for the vote of confidence. There is no way that we would release the comic earlier than we want just because anonymous pressures us. Whenever it appears online, it's only when G9 and I are 100% happy with it. At the same time I don't blame anyone for getting impatient and for sometimes voicing this. We ARE making everyone wait a ridiculous long time. There's no denying that. I simply consider it a good sign that people are looking forward so much to see a new G9MP work.
Good news from Patreon and Pixiv. Finally G9 said there is a chance for 2022 release. Though this estimation might not 100% come true. But we do have hope for real this time, that the comic might be finished in less than two months. Let's hope we can embrace this brilliant work by Christmas!
Indeed. G9 has gone into hiding again, but according to his post on Patreon, this is in an attempt to go full gas to the finish line. People who have been following us for a while know that G9 always gets insanely busy at real life work towards the end of the year, so apparently he is doing whatever he can to try to get this comic ready before the year is over.
No promises. No guarantees. I myself have no idea how far away the story is from the end, so I can't judge whether 2022 is likely or unlikely, but you can all trust that this comic is seriously being worked on.

It definitely will because we're already over 500 pages. Also, getting it done before Christmas is a goal, not a promise. I also believe there is a fair chance we'll have something to deliver before the year is over, but we simply won't make any promises about it.

I know as much as you do, which is probably only what Shinra reveals on his own blog. I suppose there will be a traditional Christmas post, so then we'll learn more.

I have important news about Daireiger V. I just posted this on Pixiv, but here it is for those that don't visit us there:
At the moment of writing this, our upcoming new comic Daireiger V consists of more than 500 pages. We estimate that we'll end up with around 600 pages when the story is completed. That's a lot of pages. No single release should be that big. Don't you agree that there is no reason to dump all those pages on you, the reader, at once? So we'll likely release this comic in chapters after all. This means that you don't need to wait until all pages are 100% ready for release, and you get to experience the story in smaller portions. This makes it easier to appreciate every scene for what it is rather than becoming a blur because you'd read on and on and on.
We'll divide the story in 5 chapters. (With the title being "Daireiger V" you'd think it was always intended that way.) Right now, chapters 1 and 2 are almost ready for release and chapter 3 is completely ready. Chapter 4's pages have only recently been made, so all the text and editing still needs to be done, and we still need to start on chapter 5. So don't be alarmed about this chapter idea and get visions of needing to wait a few years between chapters like in our other series; most of the story is done and we can work on the finishing touches during the intervals between chapter releases.
In order not to risk a long waiting time between chapters 4 and 5, we'll wait with bringing you the first chapter until we have at least made a first concept version of chapter 5, but that should be possible before the end of the year.
So the ridiculous long wait is finally almost over, and then you'll have new pages to look forward to 4 more times in tolerable intervals.
I don't think it's a good idea to divide this comic into 5 parts.There is no accurate release time for every part and we will wait for another 4 times to read the final one. This is really a TOLERATE.
I really hope G9and MP could release the first three parts in a row as the first half in a few days.After this longtime waiting,we fans really need some great thing to read.And you could release another half when everything is okay.
Finally the time has come! And I have an advice. Since the first and second chapter is almost ready, and the third chapter is completely ready. It's actually okay to release these three chapters together. The rest two chapters can be released later after the comic is finished, which will not take a long time, I believe, because there are only less than 100 pages left to make. So there's no need to release the chapters one by one.
If only you'd know how much work it is to make 100 pages with pictures and story of the highest standard (that G9 and I are capable of), and then how much work it is to write equally high standard text for every single text bubble... Don't worry, I'm not criticizing you. I'm only saying that it'll take much longer than you think before the last page of the comic is online.
Splitting the comic in half, in five parts, or releasing as a whole, it won't affect the time it takes for the last pages to be made. With that in mind, would you want 400 pages right now at once and then be waiting another couple of months for the remaining 200, or would you rather be given about 110-140 pages a few times every couple of weeks?
Besides, the story accidentally lends itself pretty nicely to be split in 5 parts. Each chapter has a distinctly different feel to it, a different theme if you will.

however, MP and G9, I do hope that each of the 5 chapters ends with a corruption, since that's the whole reason for these comics in the first place lol. (in other words, please dont release chapter 1 alone if it's just setting stuff up)
Well, the first chapter contains at least 100+ pages, that's around 400~500 pictures and perhaps more. I do believe it is more than just setting stuff up. There will definitely be mind control/corruption scenes inside. Otherwise G9 and MP won't decide to release it alone. So don't worry.
It's December now. After so many months of wait, we can finally say that Daireiger(at least one chapter) will be released in this month! I'm so excited and can't wait to see it!
Whoa there, people. Easy. I didn't expect my comment about being excited to finally get this thing online would be interpreted as that it's finished and might come any day now. The past few days have been put into thinking up solutions to fix a weaker point in ch4 and to come up with a small scene extension that was necessary in either ch2 or ch3 (3 didn't work out. It's now in 2 and we're happy with it). Two pages have been added to ch3 that were previously scrapped in order to not make scenes longer than necessary. (With the chapter format this is no longer as important.)
Ch1 and ch2 are about 90-95% done or so. I'll likely have that finished before G9 has made a first concept version of ch5, so that's not too big of a deal.
Just a little longer, people. We'll definitely release at least ch1 in December.
I prefer wait for more than 3 years and get at least three chapters at a time in Dec, rather than just get one chapter online by the end of year after such a long time and get the rest one by one in the future. As for chapter 4~5, we can keep waiting until it's all done. Because we already have three chapters by then, and we can afford to wait for another long time. At present, most fans hope that the first three chapters will be released at the same time. They are not afraid to wait longer, nor will they interfere with g9 during this period, because this is their own choice. So why can't fans still get three chapters at a time? It will even support g9 more. Why doesn't g9 want to think about it again?
Precisely, it would be sensible to really get the main story completed before doing a prequel. It sounsd absurd by itself that a reasonable person would have to re-read the entire story just to refresh oneself of what had happened because the main story took a decade to complete.
I really hope G9 and MP considers this seriously. GAIA IS the main story and it would be foolhardy to ditch it to complete a prequel first while the main story is ongoing and incomplete. I must say I am still quite salty that GAIA has been left hanging to complete all these other projects, including SR0. I am glad I am not the only one who feels this way. Hence, hope G9 and MP can reconsider the position to complete Dairenger followed by SR0 followed by GAIA. At least think about putting GAIA before SR0.
Ah, it's SR0 hunting season again. Always seems to happen every once in a while, most particularly when readers are starved for new content (which, admittedly, is not a rarity with us.)
SR0 and GAIA are the same story. SR0 only became its own title because GAIA would otherwise be stuffed with flashback scenes.If there hadn't been two chapters of SR0, we would now have had 8 chapters of GAIA with the exact same story having been told. Then the imaginary GAIA 9 would be another flashback chapter before the story would be concluded in the present time with imaginary GAIA 10. Is that what you would've wanted? Would that have prevented all these posts over the years from people claiming that SR0 doesn't really count and that GAIA is the only thing that really matters?
In order to tell the story that we want to tell, we need the history lesson that SR0 is. GAIA needs SR0 to exist. You can like that or not, but that's all on you. You can make it to be a fact that GAIA is the main series and gather plenty of people who think the same in order to prove that you're right, but then it's still a truth that only exists in your head and not in G9's or mine.

Speaking of waiting, mpgrey, do you know what happened to Shinra-Kun? He disappeared after making one post in January. At this point, I'm actually worried he died or something.
I seriously have no idea either. I get my information from the H3N blog too, just like everyone else. Let's just wait and see if there will be the traditional Christmas post before getting overly worried.
G9 said he would try his best to complete the comic before the end of 2022 in the last post,but we will just get 1/5 of the comic in December even that nearly 4/5 is done.I know Daireger will be great,but waiting for nearly two years with so many sudden changes is really frastrating.
What G9 meant with trying his best to get it done in December was about getting all the pages made, as in a first concept. Having all pages ready for release in December was never an option. I am now finally almost done with ch1, then there are some leftover scenes in ch2, and then there is still 100% of ch4 and ch5 for me to do. There is no way that was ever going to be completed in 2022. And it's also for that reason that we decided to split the comic and do multiple releases: so that you'll be at least getting your pages while I'm trying to get those remaining 300 or so ch4+ch5 pages to completion.
Frustrating? Yes. Absolutely. But otherwise you'd need to wait even longer before you would get to see anything at all.
ch1 almost done? Please release it soon! I really can't wait! I don't want to wait till the end of this month to see ch1. Please release it now! I beg you!

ReplyDeleteG9 said he would try his best to complete the comic before the end of 2022 in the last post,but we will just get 1/5 of the comic in December even that nearly 4/5 is done.I know Daireger will be great,but waiting for nearly two years with so many sudden changes is really frastrating.
ReplyDeleteWhat G9 meant with trying his best to get it done in December was about getting all the pages made, as in a first concept. Having all pages ready for release in December was never an option.
DeleteI am now finally almost done with ch1, then there are some leftover scenes in ch2, and then there is still 100% of ch4 and ch5 for me to do. There is no way that was ever going to be completed in 2022.
And it's also for that reason that we decided to split the comic and do multiple releases: so that you'll be at least getting your pages while I'm trying to get those remaining 300 or so ch4+ch5 pages to completion.
Frustrating? Yes. Absolutely. But otherwise you'd need to wait even longer before you would get to see anything at all.

ReplyDeleteSo should comics be released at the end of the month at the earliest? Can you give a range of release, such as about mid-December, or a week before Christmas.
ReplyDeleteIf G9 and MP don't want to release ch2 and ch3 in this month, then ch1 should be released immediately when finished, which is now " finally almost done", that means 99.9% done and ready for release perhaps? And we can finally have a specific release date announcement, right? Maybe we can get ch1 either today or tomorrow? Oh, I'm so excited.....
ReplyDeleteAnd G9 said the next update in Patreon will be ch1 itself. So I'm still waiting day by day for Patreon to have a surprise update. Though it has been silent there for nearly a month. But I still hope the surprise comes suddenly and very soon....
