I'm counting 4 different assumptions in your post. Let's not suddenly decide that the comic will be ready within a month, okay? I would be surprised if we can pull that off because the current pages are still far away from the ending of the story.

GAIA 6 was only one chapter in a bigger story; Daireiger V needs to tell one complete story from start to finish. It has definitely turned into a bigger project than the "short one-shot" story we originally thought it would be! Let's see if it will beat SR0-2 and become our biggest release ever.
Dear G9, you said before that you can’t release the comic in several parts, because the finished part could probably be adjusted at any time with the development of the story. But now that 210 pages are finished, at least 150 pages are FULLY set before, so first half of the storyline is unlikely to have any big change now. Is it possible to release these 150 pages as part one of the comic, then release the rest part(perhaps another 150 pages or more) in the future? So that we don’t have to wait and wait until the whole comic is completely finished. Is this advice adoptable?
You'd be surprised how much of the first 150 pages are still under construction. Though we indeed speak of "fully set" pages, that merely means that we're pretty convinced that those pages will make it all the way into the final product. It does not mean that, for example, more pages won't be added to those fully set pages to create better transitions or add a completely new scene. The most recent pages G9 sent me consisted of a suggestion for a different opening scene, so even the very first pages of the story are still under construction. The lowest page number I have done the text for so far is 32. Everything up to that still has some uncertainty.
210 set pages unfortunately doesn't mean that those pages are automatically the first 210 of the story that are already ready for release.
I see, no wonder why there are over a thousand unused pictures. Thank you for your work, mpgrey! And I hope those unused pics can be released later as a bonus after the comic is finished. It would be such a waste just to throw them away.
It's definitely something to consider. Someone else has suggested to make a bonus release like the "Oooops" release for SR0-1 that was a finished deleted scene. Maybe something similar would also work for the first Daireiger attempt.
It has been so long that I ahve forgotten about Gaia 7. While I do not purport to wish to control G9's preference in what comic to work on, I do hope that G9 can consider not making any further "short story" until SR and Gaia are completed because as seen, it has the potential to blow up into a much larger long story, that delays his ongoing comics by a significant margin, for which fans have been waiting a very long time for.
The ironic and bittersweet side of it is that in the ideal situation for G9, Daireiger wouldn't even have existed. Daireiger only came to be because he was away from home and his main pc for so long. If fate had been more kind to him then there is a chance that SR0-3 would've been made by now, a chance that we would currently be working on Gaia 7...but also a chance that something else would've gotten in the way.
It's not fair to us or even to yourself to believe that certain comics would have been made already if "this" or "that" wouldn't have happened. We probably wouldn't be making Daireiger if we had foreseen that, instead of a short story, there would be a chance of it becoming our biggest comic. The situation is as it is. We make the comics that we want to make, and we can also only make them because they are the comics we want to make. When it's time for SR0/Gaia, we will feel that it's time. Should something else get in the way like another project or another life event, then that's just how it is.
You can't just snap your fingers and expect that the pages of the comic of your preference will have magically been made. Would be pretty cool, though...
All of the above does not mean that I don't get what you're trying to say. It is pretty outrageous that it gets to be normal to have to wait several years for a new chapter of an ongoing series. That is just completely true, simple as that. Though it's likely a side effect of us being just two normal guys doing this as a side project in our spare time, compared to having this as our main job, being part of a big comic production company, or being okay with lackluster quality.
Well, I must say Daireiger V has somehow fulfilled a “dream” of mine. When I was a kid I was a fan of Japanese Super Sentai series. Sometimes in these series there were scenes that one or two female Rangers were captured and brainwashed/mind controlled by the bad guys, then they would order them to attack their Ranger colleagues or sabotage the Ranger base. And when I saw these scenes I was always excited and hoped that these female Rangers could be enslaved and corrupted by those big villains forever. But you know, that would never really happen in these TV series, these mind controlled rangers soon snapped out and defeated the villains. That remained a pity for me. I love seeing female Rangers being mind controlled and enslaved/corrupted by their enemies, and I prefer the traditional ways, not through magic, but by brainwash machines, hypnotic devices and other ways alike. Although Shadow Rangers and Gaia Rangers are both magnificent comics, definitely the best mind control/corruption comic I’ve ever seen. But the upcoming Daireiger V is exactly what I’ve been expected for years: two female Rangers and many other female characters, some Super Robot elements, lots of mind control,brainwash,corruption scenes, and no magic involved. That’s what I crave for since my childhood. I must appreciate G9 and mpgrey for your amazing work. You have made my little “dream” come true. Thank you! ----a fan for 8 years

Always great to know we're making something that is so exactly what some fans want us to make, though let's not pretend that the formula you're describing hasn't already been done multiple times by other artists, so I don't feel we deserve all these credits for (hopefully) fulfilling your dream. Even so, I hope Daireiger V will end up being a comic that fans of super sentai+non-magic-based mc will embrace as a stellar work in that genre.
G9 is out with corona at the moment. No alarming symptoms, fortunately, but he is pretty sick nonetheless. So I haven't seen new pages for a little while, but that gives me time to catch up with text work.
Oh that sucks I'm sure we all wish him a speedy recovery, and hope he takes time to recover afterwards. As much as I want to read this comic, rest is what he needs right now
if G9 dies what happens to the comics? do they have a next in line that would continue his work? or is this the end of G9mpcomics with his untimely demis? or does mpgrey take over perhaps?
its no joke he could die from the symptoms and have a fatal reaction or develope long covid which is hard for the body to get rid of we have to think reality here and the fans should have the right to know who takes over his works and productions

Long covid is always something to take into account, although it doesn't appear to be as common anymore since Omicron took over. Slim chance of this happening to G9 though the chance is not 0%. Still, it's the absolute darkest scenario you're worried about.
Now in the purely hypothetical situation that G9 would not be able to make comics anymore, it would be the end of G9MPcomics. Nobody can take over. I can't make pictures or stories of my own. G9MPcomics come from the mind of G9. Without him, there would be no point. Same with Shinra: without him, no TFS or Harriet. Same with how Dinarangers has never seen a finish. We're not like Marvel comics or something with tons of writers and artists as employees to choose from and to potentially take over when someone retires or stops working on a series whatever reason.
Bottom line, G9 can't be replaced, but there is no need to be concerned because he'll be "bothering" me with new pages before I know it.

GAIA 7? To be honest, I still don't see that will be happening soon. GAIA comics really need a lot of time to make. With all it's lore, so much characters and scenes to be prepared.

No, I have no such skills with MD. >_< I bought most of the clothes used. Some are converted from XPS models, some I "tweak" the models with zbrush and blender. The car, motorcycle are all available on DAZ, I only re-texture the surface. The patient chair? The one used by Mina? It's from renderotica I believe. I forgot where I got it >_<
April is coming, It's been more than a year since Daireiger's first teaser picture release on March 11,2021. How many pages are done right now? And still no estimation of how many pages the entire comic might be?
The latest version I have contains 244 pages. Still doesn't look to be even a little bit close to the finish line, so we're very likely going over 300 pages. That's the closest estimate I can give you.

What do you mean with "stay"? Do you want them used more often in this same comic, or do you want to see them used in more different comics? I don't think it would be a good idea to use one specific tool over and over.
In this comic of course, I'm sure you guys can come up with other brighter ideas in the future. These bees seem like mechanical parasites, they could become a part of pink. Oh, btw, the butterflies in Peacemaker look great, too. Just saying.
Mina's bare foot is so nice! Hope Mina and Blue Ranger Yeri can have sexy black or dark purple toe nail color after their corruptions completed! And they will serve the big bad guy with their sexy bare feet, while using them as a weapon(like dark and corrupted version of Ranger Kick) to eliminate their former Ranger fellows, that'll definitely be fantastic! haha

Well, it’s proper to let us know the current progress of Daireiger, a weekly pages number update is the best, if that’s not trouble. We are eagerly to know how many pages this great comic now has. Even no pages are done for a while because of real life or something, please let us informed, too. The update of new pictures and pages number is our little hope and expectation during the boring long wait.
Just wanted to seek G9's views on Gaia 7 and what he said, "GAIA 7? To be honest, I still don't see that will be happening soon. GAIA comics really need a lot of time to make. With all it's lore, so much characters and scenes to be prepared".
While I understand that Gaia 7 will take quite some time to create, especially it being the ending of such an amazing story, and dare I say, what is in my opinion, G9's best work and probably the best created comic for this genre, I really do hope that it be prioritised after Dairenger is completed. I know that this comment might get an earful from mpgrey or so, but I think having been on a journey following G9 since the inception of Shadow Rangers, and having followed closely Gaia Rangers, I really do wish to see its completion for closure. And I think G9 would like to do justice to this work of art of his by giving it the ending it deserves (hopefully with great corruption and transformation of the remaining rangers and them all happily ever after together). But it certainly doesn't feel good when the can gets kicked down the road indefinitely with no end to it in sight.
Perhaps a roadmap as to G9's projects in the pipeline would be good for fans to know what to expect after Dairenger. For instance, even Marvel provides a timeline of its works so that fans know what is the sequence of the upcoming projects. Alas, an absence of Gaia 7 from the timeline is like Avengers without End Game.
So what does G9 mean by "don't see that will be happening soon". Does he mean that there are more projects like Dairenger after Dairenger that will be before Gaia 7? If so, how many projects, mini or huge, would that be? Does he mean that Gaia 7 will not be happening soon because Gaia 7 itself will take some time to complete rather than more projects standing in its way to completion again?
Again, I do apologise for asking because Gaia 7 has been a primary reason for me continuing to follow this blog closely and it is not my intention to pressure G9 into rushing it out. But I do hope to be able to clarify this because it is deeply troubling hearing that the closure will not be happening soon - which sounds like it being postponed indefinitely
g9 said before that Gaia7 will be completed after Show Ranger Zero3. Because Gaia is a huge story, there are too many things to tell before going to the end. So SRZ3 is needed before Gaia7. Even if there are no other mini projects after Daireiger, it could still take years to finish SRZ3 and Gaia7. So it's perhaps impossible for g9 to make any concrete comic timeline, because it'll be such a long long time till Gaia7's release, and big changes could happen at any time. No one can predict the future, Daireiger was meant to be just a mini project one year ago, but now it's going to be the biggest release ever with over 300 pages, and who can see that in 2021? The future is unpredictable, so is the release date of Gaia7. And now let's focus ourselves on the upcoming brand new comic Daireiger V, that's exactly what g9 always wanted to make since the very beginning. As for Gaia7, it'll be ready when it is ready, I believe. It could take years but we WILL get there one day.
To the anonymous who asked the Gaia 7 questions, the anonymous above who replied to you basically said everything I would have said. The fact that you jokingly say that I would give you an "earful" suggests that you believe I'm not allowing you to ask about Gaia? As a loyal follower of this blog (your words), you know what's going on and has been going on. You know that we don't mind people asking about other comics. You know that G9 decides what he makes or not. You know how Daireiger unexpectedly and accidentally has come before SR03. You also know how bad we are with predicting release dates, let alone predicting comics that have yet to start. You make a comparison with Marvel. Great, we'll take that as a compliment. But I hope you understand that Marvel comics is a "little" bigger than G9MPcomics. They're a company with a boatload of employees. If one cannot work, someone else can and will take over. If G9 cannot work, nothing progresses.
Look at how long Daireiger has already taken us. Now imagine that SR03 also needs to be made from start to finish. Only then can we even start with Gaia 7. Who knows how long that one will take us. Now do you understand why G9 said he doesn't see it happening anytime soon? That's just accurately stating the truth and not some sort of foreshadowing that it would be postponed indefinitely.
We would love nothing more than to be able to present a new comic every few months or so, but that's just not happening. The time that G9 once had when he made Shadow Rangers isn't coming back. Life got and gets in the way frequently.
I actually agree with the above ... if G9 and MP keeps interposing other works in between finishing SR0 and GAIA, it will be annoying as hell... I read Hunter x Hunter, and I can tell you it is the shittiest feeling when the creator puts the manga on hiatus to create other works and leaves the fans hanging ... I think at the very least we should be told whether there will be more projects that are prioritised before finishing SR0 and GAIA... it has been 3 years after all
I know with the finish line closing in day by day, it'll be more and more difficult for g9 to release pictures that won't spoil the story. But by informing us of the current progress, like how many pages the comic has now in total, is a good way to keep us informed that the comic is still going like usual. Even if there will be no new progress in a while because of some reasons, please just let us know, and we will keep waiting with enough patience. But if there's no news at all, it'll be really hard for us to endure the long wait.
The last update of the comic I've received had almost 250 pages, and that was exactly a month ago. Since then I've put several picture updates on Pixiv that are all from scenes I haven't seen as pages yet, so the page number has definitely increased by a lot. You are right in saying that the blog needs to be better updated. It should be the main source of info. Pixiv has now become that, and the blog should at least have the same stuff (and better because we can post uncensored here.)
Agreed. Pixiv is indeed a good place to upload and communicate, g9 has lots of fans there. But blog is still a better place to post uncensored pictures, and should not be forgotten.
I hope there is a scene that after Pink or Blue is brainwashed, the bad guy will order her to return to Ranger base, pretending nothing have happened. Then she will sabotage the base, like planting bombs or destroy the security system. She will dress Rangersuit just like normal, but with green eyes and heavy makeup, which indicate she is already brainwashed. But other Rangers can't see it through, they never think of that one of their colleagues has already fallen to the dark side. Because this is a typical scene which have happened many times in Super Sentai TV series, so I hope it can also reappear in Daireiger V. If such scenes can't be arranged for Pink or Blue, then a female staff of Ranger base instead is also ok, but I still hope at least one female Ranger(Pink or Blue) can do it, haha, just my little thought and suggest. I hope g9 can see this.
There is no need to update pictures once a week, about 200 teaser pics are already posted in Pixiv, it might spoil the story if more pics are posted. What we fans really need is the update about current progress. We are now at the end of April, about 1/3 of this year has already passed, yet we still have no idea how many pages the comic has now, and also no information about whether it can be released this year. For example, G9 once predicted in March, 2019 that Gaia6 would be released in July or August, and actually it was released in September, that was a close estimation. But now G9 still can't make any estimation about the approximate release date of Daireiger, which means there might still be a long long time till Daireiger's release, then I doubt if we can see it in this year. Since the story of Daireiger has always been increasing, from a mini side project to the largest comic, if the amount of pages can be increased from 40~50 to over 300, then it might also be going over 400 or even 500 in the future, even G9 himself doesn't know if that will happen. Then there is really no hope for us to see it in this year. And it has been too long since Gaia6, too long......already over two years and a half. We are always waiting, waiting and waiting, please give us some hope, at least some information. I know Daireiger is G9's favorite project, and there is nothing to blame if the story really goes over 400 or 500 pages. But we fans need information, it could be a progress update, informing us the latest amount of pages in total or something else, whatever it is, it will at least be better than nothing at all.
I don't know how to explain it so I don't have to explain it again. I wish I can answer the exact time, when it'll be released. Or how many percent this comic at current state. Will it going 400 pages, 500 pages? I hope not. In the past, I tried to give you these details, which ended up no good. 99% I failed to deliver it on time. I've said this many many times. I'm not a professional who works on this comic stuff. Me and mpgrey (yup only two of us). We have our "real" job. Not comic related. We have our own schedulle, We are doing this because we love this kind of comic. Yet, it's so hard finding one. We tried to make it from zero. Learning to render etc... Up to this day, I'm still learning, Daz3d, blender, zbrush, unreal, etc... Even about story, if you can follow how frustrating my workflow is, you can always ask mpgrey. I tried to create the story as we go, changes are normal on our workflows, mistakes, dialogues changes, so many things. With all those problems, can we say how long we'll take to make our comic? About spoilers, let's be honest, you all have known where this kind of story goes, but no one know the details on the story, the dialogues, the plot, surprises. Even lots of the pictures are not even in the final comics. Lots of fans also urged us to release the renders, even asking for weekly updates. So, what an irony right?

No complaining anymore guys, REAL fans never push, we just need to wait and we’ll see this comic eventually. Also, g9 you don’t have to release any pictures of the ongoing story, you can release some ordinary characters pictures, Pink,Blue or any female character in this comic, and it doesn’t need to have any connection with the story itself.
To be honest, it's really amazing that g9 and mp can do this as lovers. Everyone has their own life. The dimensions in the comics have their lives. We have our lives on earth, and everything will continue. Just wait and continue our lives as fans.

Although Shadow Rangers and Gaia Rangers are both magnificent comics, definitely the best mind control/corruption comic I’ve ever seen. But the upcoming Daireiger V is exactly what I’ve been expected for years: two female Rangers and many other female characters, some Super Robot elements, lots of mind control,brainwash,corruption scenes, and no magic involved. That’s what I crave for since my childhood. I must appreciate G9 and mpgrey for your amazing work. You have made my little “dream” come true. Thank you!

Long covid is always something to take into account, although it doesn't appear to be as common anymore since Omicron took over. Slim chance of this happening to G9 though the chance is not 0%. Still, it's the absolute darkest scenario you're worried about.
Now in the purely hypothetical situation that G9 would not be able to make comics anymore, it would be the end of G9MPcomics. Nobody can take over. I can't make pictures or stories of my own. G9MPcomics come from the mind of G9. Without him, there would be no point. Same with Shinra: without him, no TFS or Harriet. Same with how Dinarangers has never seen a finish.
We're not like Marvel comics or something with tons of writers and artists as employees to choose from and to potentially take over when someone retires or stops working on a series whatever reason.
Bottom line, G9 can't be replaced, but there is no need to be concerned because he'll be "bothering" me with new pages before I know it.

DeleteNo, I have no such skills with MD. >_< I bought most of the clothes used. Some are converted from XPS models, some I "tweak" the models with zbrush and blender.

ReplyDeleteThe latest version I have contains 244 pages. Still doesn't look to be even a little bit close to the finish line, so we're very likely going over 300 pages. That's the closest estimate I can give you.

ReplyDeleteWhile I understand that Gaia 7 will take quite some time to create, especially it being the ending of such an amazing story, and dare I say, what is in my opinion, G9's best work and probably the best created comic for this genre, I really do hope that it be prioritised after Dairenger is completed. I know that this comment might get an earful from mpgrey or so, but I think having been on a journey following G9 since the inception of Shadow Rangers, and having followed closely Gaia Rangers, I really do wish to see its completion for closure. And I think G9 would like to do justice to this work of art of his by giving it the ending it deserves (hopefully with great corruption and transformation of the remaining rangers and them all happily ever after together). But it certainly doesn't feel good when the can gets kicked down the road indefinitely with no end to it in sight.
Perhaps a roadmap as to G9's projects in the pipeline would be good for fans to know what to expect after Dairenger. For instance, even Marvel provides a timeline of its works so that fans know what is the sequence of the upcoming projects. Alas, an absence of Gaia 7 from the timeline is like Avengers without End Game.
So what does G9 mean by "don't see that will be happening soon". Does he mean that there are more projects like Dairenger after Dairenger that will be before Gaia 7? If so, how many projects, mini or huge, would that be? Does he mean that Gaia 7 will not be happening soon because Gaia 7 itself will take some time to complete rather than more projects standing in its way to completion again?
Again, I do apologise for asking because Gaia 7 has been a primary reason for me continuing to follow this blog closely and it is not my intention to pressure G9 into rushing it out. But I do hope to be able to clarify this because it is deeply troubling hearing that the closure will not be happening soon - which sounds like it being postponed indefinitely
g9 said before that Gaia7 will be completed after Show Ranger Zero3. Because Gaia is a huge story, there are too many things to tell before going to the end. So SRZ3 is needed before Gaia7. Even if there are no other mini projects after Daireiger, it could still take years to finish SRZ3 and Gaia7. So it's perhaps impossible for g9 to make any concrete comic timeline, because it'll be such a long long time till Gaia7's release, and big changes could happen at any time. No one can predict the future, Daireiger was meant to be just a mini project one year ago, but now it's going to be the biggest release ever with over 300 pages, and who can see that in 2021? The future is unpredictable, so is the release date of Gaia7. And now let's focus ourselves on the upcoming brand new comic Daireiger V, that's exactly what g9 always wanted to make since the very beginning. As for Gaia7, it'll be ready when it is ready, I believe. It could take years but we WILL get there one day.

I read Hunter x Hunter, and I can tell you it is the shittiest feeling when the creator puts the manga on hiatus to create other works and leaves the fans hanging ... I think at the very least we should be told whether there will be more projects that are prioritised before finishing SR0 and GAIA... it has been 3 years after all

DeleteI know with the finish line closing in day by day, it'll be more and more difficult for g9 to release pictures that won't spoil the story. But by informing us of the current progress, like how many pages the comic has now in total, is a good way to keep us informed that the comic is still going like usual. Even if there will be no new progress in a while because of some reasons, please just let us know, and we will keep waiting with enough patience. But if there's no news at all, it'll be really hard for us to endure the long wait.
ReplyDeleteThe last update of the comic I've received had almost 250 pages, and that was exactly a month ago. Since then I've put several picture updates on Pixiv that are all from scenes I haven't seen as pages yet, so the page number has definitely increased by a lot.

Agreed. Pixiv is indeed a good place to upload and communicate, g9 has lots of fans there. But blog is still a better place to post uncensored pictures, and should not be forgotten.
DeleteI hope there is a scene that after Pink or Blue is brainwashed, the bad guy will order her to return to Ranger base, pretending nothing have happened. Then she will sabotage the base, like planting bombs or destroy the security system. She will dress Rangersuit just like normal, but with green eyes and heavy makeup, which indicate she is already brainwashed. But other Rangers can't see it through, they never think of that one of their colleagues has already fallen to the dark side. Because this is a typical scene which have happened many times in Super Sentai TV series, so I hope it can also reappear in Daireiger V.

ReplyDeleteThere is no need to update pictures once a week, about 200 teaser pics are already posted in Pixiv, it might spoil the story if more pics are posted. What we fans really need is the update about current progress. We are now at the end of April, about 1/3 of this year has already passed, yet we still have no idea how many pages the comic has now, and also no information about whether it can be released this year. For example, G9 once predicted in March, 2019 that Gaia6 would be released in July or August, and actually it was released in September, that was a close estimation. But now G9 still can't make any estimation about the approximate release date of Daireiger, which means there might still be a long long time till Daireiger's release, then I doubt if we can see it in this year. Since the story of Daireiger has always been increasing, from a mini side project to the largest comic, if the amount of pages can be increased from 40~50 to over 300, then it might also be going over 400 or even 500 in the future, even G9 himself doesn't know if that will happen. Then there is really no hope for us to see it in this year. And it has been too long since Gaia6, too long......already over two years and a half. We are always waiting, waiting and waiting, please give us some hope, at least some information. I know Daireiger is G9's favorite project, and there is nothing to blame if the story really goes over 400 or 500 pages. But we fans need information, it could be a progress update, informing us the latest amount of pages in total or something else, whatever it is, it will at least be better than nothing at all.

Me and mpgrey (yup only two of us). We have our "real" job. Not comic related.
We have our own schedulle, We are doing this because we love this kind of comic.
Yet, it's so hard finding one.
We tried to make it from zero. Learning to render etc...
Up to this day, I'm still learning, Daz3d, blender, zbrush, unreal, etc...
Even about story, if you can follow how frustrating my workflow is, you can always ask mpgrey.
I tried to create the story as we go, changes are normal on our workflows, mistakes, dialogues changes, so many things.
With all those problems, can we say how long we'll take to make our comic?
About spoilers, let's be honest, you all have known where this kind of story goes, but no one know the details on the story, the dialogues, the plot, surprises.
Even lots of the pictures are not even in the final comics.
Lots of fans also urged us to release the renders, even asking for weekly updates.

Also, g9 you don’t have to release any pictures of the ongoing story, you can release some ordinary characters pictures, Pink,Blue or any female character in this comic, and it doesn’t need to have any connection with the story itself.
