March Updates
So far just preparing scenes for some projects including SR0-2.
SR0-2 (The epic conclusion that lead us to the original Shadow Ranger)
Project Night The Game (believe it or not, yes, it's a game project... hopefully)
p.s
Like usual those scenes are not final, maybe they won't be included in the final version.

what happened to your progress bars?
ReplyDeleteYou can read about it more in the previous topic.
DeleteWe basically took the progress bars down as a way to protect ourselves against self-imposed deadlines and unwanted pressure.
We are overjoyed that our works are liked so much and that everyone is so enthousiastic, and that only makes us want to give you all even more comics and have them ready as soon as possible. The progress bars only emphasized and amplified this: people look at the bars, look forward to a new increase and/or new update, and G9 puts more time in this hobby than is both necessary and healthy.
It's a hobby and it should remain a hobby, but instead it became more like full-time work.
Especially the past 6 months during the making of the first part of SR0, he discovered that he was quickly burning himself out, hence the inactivity the previous 2 months.
We seriously need to tone down the work pressure we put ourselves under, and to do that, we're going to take it easier from now on. Not in the quality of the comics (hopefully), but in the working speed. Removal of the progress bars should help us stick to our plan and won't leave you all with false hope about updates and releases.
And besides, the bars had more function when G9 was still working on multiple titles at the same time in order to keep track of their current status. With just one title at a time, with our inability to correctly predict when a title is finished, and with our constant last-minute chances that makes the comic get bigger and bigger, the bars didn't have much purpose anymore anyway.
Ny chance of a release this year?
DeleteMy estimation is by November 2014, the earliest.
Deletemp assured us that they wouldn't take the entire world to finish SR0 though as he said they are not that slow
ReplyDeleteThat's completely right that I said that. But that was right before I knew about the toll it had taken on G9, before I knew that he needed a big, long break to recharge his batteries again.
DeleteAnd also, it was before we realized how much bigger the "Night" game project commission was than we had envisioned.
So again, that was me making an enthousiastic but baseless assumption about a release date.
I still think it should be possible though. I mean, it's only march. We have still a great many months to go in 2014. I don't want to be so pessimistic to already believe we won't make it before the end of the year.
But ultimately, I'm just not going to estimate a release date anymore. I'm just as much to blame for the "self-imposed deadlines" as G9 is.
We'll see how it plays out. As with part 1, we'll choose quality over speed. For part 2, we do have a little advantage though with character and background models already being done and with the story already being written.
I will remain optimistic! ^^
Hello G9;
ReplyDeleteSad to hear your work has tired you so much. If I may, I'd advise you to "find your fun" again.
Do random works that would allow you to experiment and progress as an artist.
I'd advise some mini-comics, just a few pages that would give you the opportunity to work on the different integral parts that compose a comic.
If having a deadline for the main comic stresses you, don't give you one. But keep a work ethic and a reserved time that you can use to work on it ; )
Hey HoaC >_<
DeleteWelcome back!
And thank you for your kind advice.
I'll try to spend some time to do some rendering, unfortunately lately it's a little busy with my "real" work.
Don't worry, I'll try to find a way to make it "fun" again to do the comics.
