You bet I like her! Especially her face looks really good and really spot-on as Tetsuya Nomura's character design would have looked in, well, good looking 3d models.

ReplyDeleteI am happy to report that squarenix will be doing remakes of FF 10, 7, and 8. Ten should be done before the launch of the new console since it is more recent and doesn't involve the drastic graphic overhaul the other two need, however it looks like we won't be seeing 7 or 8 till the PS4 is released..... Also if you do a Tifa, Aerith, yuffi corruption story I may start worshipping you as my god just saying!

DeleteIt's too bad the FF remakes and ports keep on appearing on the Playstation consoles only though. (I'm an xbox 360 player.) Doesn't mean I insist on never jumping to Ps4, but still... They're just remakes. Why not release on every console?
But err...what about FF9? That happens to be my favorite of the Playstation-era FF's. Are they just forgetting about that one?
FFX would be a remastered (HD) version only, not the whole from ground up remake.

FF9 was basically forgotten because it's not one of Tetsuya Nomura's work.
After Saraguchi leave Square, Tetsuya had a promotion, not just as character designer (which is he is good at).
That's why Final Fantasy become not Final Fantasy anymore.
FF9 in my opinion is the most "Final Fantasy" of all series.
It's the one with the richest character designs ever.
Vivi, Zidane, Garnet,Steiner and... Quina!
Even all the characters are SD, but they fit the world so well. (And you know what they call their world? Gaia! ^_^)
Yeah they didn't have super uber pretty girls like other series, but hey, it works!
And the story is much much better than FFXIII!

But indeed there are a lot of FF that have better gameplay than FF9.
Staff on Square admitted that FF9 is the most beautiful work they ever did it too, but I forget where i saw it so i can't proof it in here.
FF7 is overrated IMO, people should play FF6 before decide FF7 is the best Final Fantasy.
You even can't tell difference between Cloud, and Tifa except their appearance and limit break.

There's no particular job, just like you said.
Story wise, for people who has played soooo many great squaresoft's libraries, it can be debatable.
Aerith's death not the first plot used on RPG (where one of the main character's death)
And FF6 has deeper story too (I love the branching character's story on FF6, while FF7 was too focus on Cloud & Aerith story. Even I think Tifa's lack story on it.)
But, as something that bring momentum to FF series, I think we can't deny that. (something like FIFA 08 on XBOX360, if you are soccer fans ^_^)
That's the first time RPG goes to AAA list game, the game with super duper budget, promos, and don't forget the FMV's that change the whole FF universe.
And the game that make lots of western gamer aware of the name SquareSoft.

I mostly agree with anonymous^, except on one point: even the gameplay in FF9 really shines.
DeleteIt was such a welcome return to characters with their own identity in battle.
You mention FF7 where materia had a strong impact on character's stats, but in FF8 it was even worse.
With one press of the button, you could swap all GF's and junctioned magic between your characters!
The one with Ifrit was your powerhouse, but with one click, that same character could get as wimpy as Vora!
Those characters really only differed by their limit breaks and a select few weapon specifics such as Squall's gunblade power increase or Selphie's Strange Vision with its max hit rate.
What a welcome change was FF9 where Vivi could never become another Steiner or vice versa. They even didn't all have access to the same list of equippable skills, further creating their own identity.
And btw, (if anyone cares) as much as I like FF9, the game I truly call "my game" is FF6. Has been the case since its release on the snes and it will always be that way.
not to crush people's dreams but none of those are being remade. they're doing an HD remaster of X but theres absolutely nothing coming for 7 or 8. that guy up there made all that up lol

ReplyDeleteIf I may, I have to disagree with all of you. Final Fantasy 8 is the best in my own opinion. It had the best story, although it was stupid and downright scratch your head worthy at points. But I enjoyed it through and through. Considering I have to play the game 5 times in total (game data mysteriously became corrupted 3 times and the fourth time I got to Disc 4 but was stuck in a spot where I was not a high enough level to survive and there was no battles begin the start and the first boss to level up). I enjoyed FF7, but I think the ending really lacked. FF9 delivered a good ending and I liked the romance element but it did not have a strong connection to me. It was still a good game, and loved the ending a lot! Much better than FF8's, which I ended up making my own conclusion as to how it ended. FF6...never played it.
I think the worse FF I have played, both in gameplay AND story, was FF12 and 13. No...I didnt even bother finishing them, they were just dull and trying too hard to be something they werent. Plus, I cannot stand the war theme tone ALL THE TIME. Once in a while okay, but it seems lately it has been war story, war story, war story, etc.
But G9, love the Tifa and hope we can see her in a video game vixen story where they all get corrupted! hahaaha

DeleteI love Eyes On Me, yeah one of the first and the best final fantasy "soundtrack".
And it suits the ending mood so well.
I love how they portrait the characters "daily activity" on the ending, give you some peace feeling.
That's enough after hours and hours of gameplay.
I really love how Rinoa tries to tease Squall on their first met, and the dancing scene, that's really really romantic.
But somehow, I think it's not fully optimized yet.
The pararel universe (multi universe) concept? was just a gimmick.
There so many opprtunity to make it even better than FFX,that's why FF8 I think is the final fantasy who deserve a remake.
It's just not complete yet. Different than FFVII or VI which is already "done".
