Hi G9! It's really a pity that you lost your old models because they were really good. I have compiled a couple of links of your last works on the models which I felt was fantastic and I hope that the references will be of use to you to get your new models as similar to your old ones.
For corrupted Mimi, I like the previous darker version of her as seen in the link. So her hair would be of a darker shade of red (instead of orange-red), her skin paler, her eyes darker red as well with a smaller proportion of the black part of the iris to give her the dark look. Hope that you are able to recreate her! The current Mimi looks a little too cute as compared to the previous sensual her!
I agree with your Mimi pointers. They're spot on, and they can help prevent inconsistencies because the "old" Mimi already shows up in pages that have already been made.
By the way, you'll be happy to know that, for some weird reason, the Mei model has been unaffected by the Daz updates, so she doesn't have to be remade.
I love love the first pic G9 posted of corrupted Mei with the long hair and outfit. She looked perfect. The short hair version she looks too young and innocent. I doubt we're getting that model tho :(
I agree with Mimi. Most of her models look too cute. Needs some black streaks in her hair and red nails. This version was always my favorite model of her looking the most evil and bitchy. Probably one of my favorite pics G9 has ever done
It's Gaia 6 that you're waiting for, so the obvious answer would be to read the Gaia Rangers chapters, or at the very least Gaia 5. There will also be references to the Shadow Ranger Zero story. After all, that is the reason we wanted/needed to make those chapters before Gaia 6. So in order to appreciate all aspects of the story, it would help to know about the events in those chapters as well.
There is still plenty of time to read everything; Gaia 6 is nowhere near ready yet.
I wish I had anything clarifying to say about this, but I haven't. I'm not sure if G9 has already resumed making Gaia 6 pages, or if he is still busy making new models, or if he simply doesn't have time again. I don't have any news, so at the moment, nothing much -if anything at all- is going on. What does that mean for this year? I don't know. If G9 has time like how it used to be, then we could still get it done before the end of the year. Problem is, it's not very likely that he'll have that much time.
Hold on. Don't draw your own conclusions. After an incredibly long wait without any news or updates, it's logical and understandable that people are becoming pessimistic, but that's no reason to assume that nothing will be made anymore.
Oh man. I was afraid G9 will really end his work!!! That would be such a terrible waste, leaving a story unfinished when it could be so good and a great work of art!!! T_T
I can assure you that G9 is completely fine health-wise, if that is what you were referring to. All the problems are caused by his real-life work. He has a responsible job at his own business, and that hasn't been overly successful lately. He has recently been up to his neck in the planning and preparation to turn things around, and this came on top of his already busy schedule.
It's safe to say that, as long as this uncertainty regarding his work/income/life goes on, there won't be a mindset that lets him leisurely make comics. Nobody can tell how long this will last. I am still hopeful that everything will settle down at some point, and that his life will return to normal.
This is because he is a hobbyist. G9 wants all of his picture making and story making to remain a hobby: something that he does for free and makes for everyone, but also something that he can do without pressure.
Patreon and all other similar options would create obligations and pressure because customers are paying to get something in return on a frequent and recurring basis, and that is simply not going to happen. Just look at how long it's been since the last comic (Zerion) was released.

Honestly, I think G9's work (art, story, characters) is much better than Shinra. This is just my personal opinion. While it is unfortunate that GAIA is taking so long to be released, I look forward to G9 showing us the corruption and transformation of the final 3 rangers because the first 2 ranger's corruption was terrific. Keep going G9! I hope you do well in real life and will be able to amaze your fans with your work soon again! Looking forward to it!
Thank you for all your support. I know it's been way too long for you to wait for GAIA 6. At the same time, my works just getting ridiculous. I always spare some times to continue working. It's not a smooth process however. I've changed 3 models for all the characters. From V4, Genesis 2, Genesis 3 and now Genesis 8. Crazy >_< And because of so much hype about this one. I want to make sure to give it the best, story line, graphics etc. I've put some updated scenes here for you to compare to previous one. I hope you can see some improvement. Once again. Yes, for some darker scenes (less light etc), the ray tracing render can take like forever to get a "clean" look. That's why I stopped the render once the render look "clean" enough for me. I hope this problems can be resolved by the new Octane 4 denoising feature.

I must say I have to agree that the queen lost quite some defining facial features. It's now more like a different girl cosplaying as her. With the necessity for new models, we'll have to accept that there will be some differences, but I feel that this queen model is too far away from how she looked before.
Yes please use the first queen model.She looked perfect, why need to change it? Wouldn't the queen model with Leona already be updated for genesis 8? And please no alternating red and black nails. I know you're better than that G9!
I am so glad to read this comment because I think G9 made the right picks for his spoilers. Or should I say teasers. Because I actually don’t want to see the corrupted versions of the last Rangers. Those should blow me away when the final story comes out. I just hope he will take his time with each girl, because (if I read the previous posts correctly) this is going to be the final chapter, and 3 main character corruptions is A LOT!!! So I would rather have G9 taking time with this chapter (yes people, even more than he has already) and get 3 great corruptions and an EPIC finale, than him being time-pressured by his fans with rushed corruptions as a result. Just keep posting (spoiler-free) teasers on a regular basis on the forum, just so we know you are still alive and kicking and work is progressing (a mistake that Shinra-Kun seems to make on his forum) and I will keep checking for updates, my heart jumping a little each time I see a new post or comment. Gaia 7 should be the concluding chapter. We are unable to end the story in Gaia 6 because there are important story revelations that need to be told in SR0-3 first. An added bonus of this is that this takes a lot of pressure off of Gaia 6: we can end that chapter wherever is most suitable and don't need to finish the entire story at once.

I have just posted a status update on pixiv, so it's only fair that I give all of you here the same information:
It's been a long while since we had the opportunity to work on the comic for as long a period as now is the case. Finally a reason to be really optimistic again! \o/ (Let's wait and see how long this will last, though...)
The current status of the comic is a bit unusual and misleading because we now have less pages ready than earlier. We have decided to remake the ENTIRE chapter from scratch. The need for the updated models mentioned in earlier posts turned out to be a mixed blessing. Yes, it meant an enormous setback, but it gave a chance to thoroughly improve everything at the same time. Instead of endlessly working with slight changes within a problematic scene, a completely new fresh start proved to be the best medicine.
Think of it like giving the same script to a different movie director: you still get the same story, the same scenes in the same order, but just with a different approach, different camera angles and lighting effects etc.
So even though we haven't caught up yet with the point in the chapter where we had gotten to before starting over, we're ironically still closer to a satisfying end result than before.

I received all remade pages yesterday and I was admittedly pretty skeptical after hearing from G9 that he doing the entire chapter from scratch again. "Is that really necessary?" "Shouldn't you be focusing on making new pages instead of going back AGAIN?" (I think I have seen 7 different versions of the opening scene alone...) But my pessimistic thoughts were quickly replaced with excitement after seeing how each and every scene had been turned in a vastly improved version of its previous self. By now you surely all know that we don't work in a chronological order and that we always revisit old scenes to make them flow better. Well, that part has now more or less already been done with these brand new pages. That is my reasoning for claiming that we're now farther than we were before despite going back to the drawing board.
Reading the words "remake the entire chapter from scratch" is sure to make many of you facepalm like you've rarely facepalmed before, so I want to stress that this is actually a good development instead of yet another setback.
While it is a little sad that we are still far off from the release of GAIA 6, thank you so much for the update mpgrey. Really appreciate it! Looking forward to the awesome end product of GAIA 6. I am sure it will be bloody brilliant with all the amazing renders that G9 has been teasing
Look, this will always be a question that is logical to ask but impossible to answer. Everything depends on G9's available time. It's really as simple as that. In theory, we could make this chapter from start to finish in just, say, 3 months. Maybe even 2. But that is only in the unrealistic situation where G9 keeps on having as much time as he had when the previous Gaia chapters were made.
We're now in the middle of december. This is normally a period of the year where no comic work would be done at all. The fact that G9 has had time to do all this comic work now (of all times) can be considered a bonus. If he can keep this up, the long wait will really come to an actual end pretty soon. ...But that is usually when life gets in the way again, as experience has proven by now. Early 2019 should be a safe bet if the working speed continues like it has been but, again, it can also just as easily be that real life kicks in again and that this prediction means nothing.
The big problem was the moving between Gen 4 characters ( the original Shadow Rangers, Gaia) to Genesis 2 based model which was very troublesome, and then Genesis 3 came which is far superior and yet have different UV texture map. Some of the old texture can't be used on the new one. Now all the characters are Genesis 3 based, and the latest Genesis 8 well compatible with Genesis 3. So... no problems so far.
Yeah but pretty sure Genesis will keep updating so the longer this drags on, the higher the risk of it being incompatible and having to restart again causing a greater drag again
Hi, I just wanted to say thank you for releasing such great stories for free. I can understand why People are complaining About the waiting time, but as we don't pay for it I think it is acceptable and should rather seen as a praise to your amazing work that we just don't want to wait any longer to see more of it.
Thanks! It's kind of you to reach this conclusion and turn people's unrest into something positive. The only way to solve this is to actually finally release a new work. 3 years without a single new comic is a long time, no matter how many good excuses we may have.
Yea, the delay is really quite Long, but then again, we are not paying anything for it. And for that Price the delay is totally fine, though it is still anoying. To be honest, I would probably be willing to join a Patreon if that would help and I am sure some others would as well, as the Quality of the Comics is stunning.
I appreciate the cynicism, but pointing out a noticable weird facial feature will not lead to a new complete redo of the entire chapter. It's a promise!
Yeah the 2 new renders of Mei and Sophie look kinda weird maybe because of the angle or texture. Their nose and chin or proportion is kinda off. Did anything change?
In the case of Mei, it's definitely the angle. Her model looks fine and pretty in other pictures on pages I already have.
In the case of Sophie, I'm not too sure yet. But considering that she is G9's favorite Gaia girl, we can be sure that he went all out to make her look exactly like he wants without any possible slip-ups.
So many problems with this comic... even Alayeh got bored already >_<

I must say I have to agree that the queen lost quite some defining facial features. It's now more like a different girl cosplaying as her.

DeleteI am so glad to read this comment because I think G9 made the right picks for his spoilers. Or should I say teasers. Because I actually don’t want to see the corrupted versions of the last Rangers. Those should blow me away when the final story comes out.
DeleteI just hope he will take his time with each girl, because (if I read the previous posts correctly) this is going to be the final chapter, and 3 main character corruptions is A LOT!!!
So I would rather have G9 taking time with this chapter (yes people, even more than he has already) and get 3 great corruptions and an EPIC finale, than him being time-pressured by his fans with rushed corruptions as a result.
Just keep posting (spoiler-free) teasers on a regular basis on the forum, just so we know you are still alive and kicking and work is progressing (a mistake that Shinra-Kun seems to make on his forum) and I will keep checking for updates, my heart jumping a little each time I see a new post or comment.
Basically, continue to do what you are doing. I am loving it.

Gaia 7 should be the concluding chapter. We are unable to end the story in Gaia 6 because there are important story revelations that need to be told in SR0-3 first.
DeleteAn added bonus of this is that this takes a lot of pressure off of Gaia 6: we can end that chapter wherever is most suitable and don't need to finish the entire story at once.

DeleteI have just posted a status update on pixiv, so it's only fair that I give all of you here the same information:
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long while since we had the opportunity to work on the comic for as long a period as now is the case. Finally a reason to be really optimistic again! \o/ (Let's wait and see how long this will last, though...)
The current status of the comic is a bit unusual and misleading because we now have less pages ready than earlier.
We have decided to remake the ENTIRE chapter from scratch. The need for the updated models mentioned in earlier posts turned out to be a mixed blessing. Yes, it meant an enormous setback, but it gave a chance to thoroughly improve everything at the same time. Instead of endlessly working with slight changes within a problematic scene, a completely new fresh start proved to be the best medicine.
Think of it like giving the same script to a different movie director: you still get the same story, the same scenes in the same order, but just with a different approach, different camera angles and lighting effects etc.
So even though we haven't caught up yet with the point in the chapter where we had gotten to before starting over, we're ironically still closer to a satisfying end result than before.

I received all remade pages yesterday and I was admittedly pretty skeptical after hearing from G9 that he doing the entire chapter from scratch again. "Is that really necessary?" "Shouldn't you be focusing on making new pages instead of going back AGAIN?" (I think I have seen 7 different versions of the opening scene alone...)
But my pessimistic thoughts were quickly replaced with excitement after seeing how each and every scene had been turned in a vastly improved version of its previous self.
By now you surely all know that we don't work in a chronological order and that we always revisit old scenes to make them flow better. Well, that part has now more or less already been done with these brand new pages.
That is my reasoning for claiming that we're now farther than we were before despite going back to the drawing board.
Reading the words "remake the entire chapter from scratch" is sure to make many of you facepalm like you've rarely facepalmed before, so I want to stress that this is actually a good development instead of yet another setback.
While it is a little sad that we are still far off from the release of GAIA 6, thank you so much for the update mpgrey. Really appreciate it! Looking forward to the awesome end product of GAIA 6. I am sure it will be bloody brilliant with all the amazing renders that G9 has been teasing

DeleteLook, this will always be a question that is logical to ask but impossible to answer.
DeleteEverything depends on G9's available time. It's really as simple as that. In theory, we could make this chapter from start to finish in just, say, 3 months. Maybe even 2. But that is only in the unrealistic situation where G9 keeps on having as much time as he had when the previous Gaia chapters were made.
We're now in the middle of december. This is normally a period of the year where no comic work would be done at all. The fact that G9 has had time to do all this comic work now (of all times) can be considered a bonus. If he can keep this up, the long wait will really come to an actual end pretty soon.
...But that is usually when life gets in the way again, as experience has proven by now.
Early 2019 should be a safe bet if the working speed continues like it has been but, again, it can also just as easily be that real life kicks in again and that this prediction means nothing.
We will see. Time will tell.

DeletePlease don't drag GAIA's release further such that you will have to have new models for the characters again which will take up much time
ReplyDeleteThe big problem was the moving between Gen 4 characters ( the original Shadow Rangers, Gaia) to Genesis 2 based model which was very troublesome, and then Genesis 3 came which is far superior and yet have different UV texture map. Some of the old texture can't be used on the new one. Now all the characters are Genesis 3 based, and the latest Genesis 8 well compatible with Genesis 3. So... no problems so far.
DeleteYeah but pretty sure Genesis will keep updating so the longer this drags on, the higher the risk of it being incompatible and having to restart again causing a greater drag again

I can understand why People are complaining About the waiting time, but as we don't pay for it I think it is acceptable and should rather seen as a praise to your amazing work that we just don't want to wait any longer to see more of it.

DeleteThe only way to solve this is to actually finally release a new work. 3 years without a single new comic is a long time, no matter how many good excuses we may have.
Yea, the delay is really quite Long, but then again, we are not paying anything for it.

To be honest, I would probably be willing to join a Patreon if that would help and I am sure some others would as well, as the Quality of the Comics is stunning.

DeleteYeah the 2 new renders of Mei and Sophie look kinda weird maybe because of the angle or texture. Their nose and chin or proportion is kinda off. Did anything change?
DeleteIn the case of Mei, it's definitely the angle. Her model looks fine and pretty in other pictures on pages I already have.
DeleteIn the case of Sophie, I'm not too sure yet. But considering that she is G9's favorite Gaia girl, we can be sure that he went all out to make her look exactly like he wants without any possible slip-ups.
