Well its feedback time. I guess its more of a NTR-centred comic since there was not much focus on the corruption. There was so much focus on Mila to only end it with just a brainwashed Mila and not a corrupted one.
Lyra's scenes were a plus, they were really good but the corruption scene needed more focus and detail, it looked like the dude bit her ass or something causing her to transform which is kind of interesting and a new place to bite ( i guess? ). However, adding the horns growing out and her outfit going on to her part by part would had been more satisfying and a nice touch. Same for Garcia i think a little more detail that resembles Lyra and Roggar would make her look more amazing.
Theres also too much text and it took a long time before the scenes, but i guess it was meant to be a light hearted comic anyway.
Overall i still enjoyed it, the renders were amazing, the scenes were still good but it wasn't exactly my kind of comic :(
"too much text" is a very silly complaint. the only way you could think this has too much text is if you just wanted pictures. he has a story to tell.
there were multiple pages without any text. how much less could you ask for?
seriously, there are a LOT of terrible CG comics out there and they are FILLED with text. giant text bubbles AND giant boxes with narrative. G9 doesn't do that and it's why he's one of the best

And for your review, yes, you are 100% correct about the NTR themed of this comic. That's our intention from the beginning (it's one of my fav theme tho' - g9 >_<) And for lots of text, that's also true. Maybe this one is the one with the most dialogues we write in a single comic. Spoiler: Lyra - Mind Break -> Corruption -> Transformation. Milla - Brainwash -> Mind Control Eve - Mind Break -> Corruption So they are different. I know he has a story to tell, but i'm sure we are all here to wank and scrolling through 50 pages before any scenes is not intuitive in an adult comic. It is what G9 does well normally but this was an exception of a lengthy intro thus my comment. Though i have to agree that 99% of stuff out there are garbage.

You're hitting the nail right on the head when it comes to my prime concern for how well this comic would be appreciated by the readers. Indeed, this comic has a very slow start for any reader (not saying that's specifically the case for you, anonymous) who just sees our comics as "wank material". We can deny it as much as we like, but this is still fetish porn with a story. And when it's nothing but story for a long while, especially when there hasn't been porn yet, it can turn away readers who aren't interested in the story. This story has an especially long build-up before it starts showing adult pictures...and when it does, it hardly stops doing that anymore!
Bottom line, you're simply correct when you say that the pacing is a bit off, but it's up to each reader to feel how bothersome that is. You'll always get an above-average focus on story with our works, so it shouldn't be a complete surprise. All the story at the start was necessary though in order to set the world and to pave the way for the mind break and NTR processes for the three leading ladies.
Not that i simply treat this as wank material, i appreciate the story too, the story compliments the porn, Gaia and TFS are very good examples. But the anticipation i had for this comic and the long build up was the reason for my comment.
there was a lot of build-up and my only real complaint is that there could be a few more pages showing the actual corruption in more detail on the characters.
but the corruption means absolutely nothing without build-up and knowledge of the characters.
i would say that perhaps some of the comedy could be toned down and in its place, a couple more pages of corruption

This comic remind me that G9MP's work is so far ahead than other CG comics. And deserve it's own class along with Shinra. Moreover, it's free. Hands down.
This was good work! I would have liked to see more corruption and transformation to be honest but if you had the aim of mind-break > corruption etc then I think you have achieved that goal in a stunning way.
It's a pity not being able to see the corruption and transformation process in greater detail as their final corrupted form actually looks really good
The madness of the poor boy in the end is impressive. Could be my favorite part. Hopefully he can fightback somehow in the future (Like a pathetic hero. At least he is still alive). Anyway it's a great comic over all
This comic proves that good quality takes time and is well worth the wait. Love the detail you put into the scenes and the characters. All the women were great but transformed Lyra was tops it by being so sexy, sinister, and gorgeous. Roggar's design was great as well so much menance and power in that look.
Storywise, your work is one of the few porn that I'll take the time to read, instead of just skipping to the juicier parts. So the slow build up was fine as it gave the story some depth and fleshed out the characters.
The only little problem I have is that the poor heroes got no sexy time, they might as well be eunuchs. But like I said it's a little problem and the sexy times you did show was great.

Sure we could have made much more pages to give, for example, Yvonne the chance to develop as a fourth(!) main heroine and add many more pages where she could have her time in the spotlight post-corruption...but then the comic would go on and on and on. It's already much bigger than intended (our habit). At some point we simply had to say "okay, this is plenty. Let's work with this and make it good rather than keep on adding things."
In this regard, one-shot stories are far more difficult for us to make because we always end up wanting to show more than intended.

Impressive. It is a huge improvement compared to previous works. (I become your fan at the very very begining^^) In your previous works, the story is straight-forward. The villans assault and get girls from the begining to the end. Male characters, besides the villains, seems not so important. They are always there waiting for being NTR or killed. This time, male characters have their own storylines (e.g. Mave being transformed, Hyde being recruited at the end). Also, the appearance of the corrupted girls have made me aroused. I especially like the change of attitude of Lyra resulting from the corruption, from shy to slutty, aggressive and bossy.
The focus on Lyra is sufficient but not for the other characters. I would suggest Lyra being more humiliating prior to killing Mark. For example, kiss or sex with Roggar in front of Mark. I thought that Mark didn't know whats happening (Lyra's change of position) before being killed. Same is happening to Eve. Corrupted Lyra wants to break Eve. Instead of injecting aphrodisiac, she should humiliate Eve by sex with Mave in front of Eve. That should severely break Eve. Up till then, Eve would give in.
The story of the corruption of Eve and the transformation of Mave are very short. Mave just made an appearence and then being transformed all of a sudden. At least, we would see some shot of Mave trying to struggle before becoming a mindless soldier. The corruption of female commander should be the main dish of all of the corruption-fans, right? We hope to see more plot and appearance on the newly corrupted Eve. Please, some more pics on Eve having sex with Roggar.
Overall, Zerion is an excellent work. Thanks G9 and Mpgrey.
P.S. If I have to rank the girls, I like Eve the most, followed by Lyra. Milla is not my cup of tea.
Oh Hi Digimon! Yes, I still remember your name, haha... The problem with the plot is, Lyra has NO relationship with Mark, there's no special bound/emotion between them two. So, If I want to add your plot, I should add more story for them two, the result is the comic become too lengthy. And for your second plot, I agree, that would make it more better >_< sorry... Mave and Eve plot was added at the "injury time" actually. It was not part of the comic at the beginning. So, yes, it's a little bit rushed. Thank you, glad that you still enjoy our comic .

Since you are not going to do another Zerion story is there any possibility of including these characters in the Gaia universe? Maybe a confrontation between the main villains, winner takes all the ladies. Cause everyone loves crossovers. Great job!
By the way, don't worry about the people who say they didn't like that a character died or that such and such character didn't break out of her brainwash, if you trully love this theme you will get off on in having everyone stay currupted, it would be a waste and a turnoff if they didn't in the end. Also I though it was a shame that García didn't end up becoming mr Dickson's toy since it seemed very likely to be that he was a defector too just like professor o'wyld since he was the one who sent him to their base. I thought he was gonna get to fuck her or make her his plaything as a reward for helping the aliens conquer earth. I also though it was a very nice touch that Milla ended up pregnant at the end from her "husband". I wouldn't have had a problem with all of them getting pregnant! :P Love the NTR in this story too, sweet girl taken from her love and twisted. Although i liked her hair style more before she got turned, the short style up to her neck.
If you're referring to some of the comments on e-hentai, then you're basically already telling the whole story. You would need to know about/understand/like the fetish to understand why the story has a bad ending and is basically giving the middle finger to the good guys. Let's face it, that is the complete opposite of how stories usually progress.
But in this regard, these reactions actually only make me happy because it proves that the comic has been read by more people than just the ones with a thing for the fetish. If readers were rooting for Hyde while reading the comic, it means that it wasn't a run-of-the-mill, predictable story for them and/or that Hyde (or Mark) were convincing and interesting characters for them instead of just the random dudes in a comic they were only reading for the naked girls.
It's the goal of both G9 and myself to make comics that are interesting to read for more people than just the fetish readers, so if these seemingly "strange" reactions are coming, it looks like we succeeded in that part.
The more the reader "hate" the result of the NTR story, the better the characters are. If the reader seems okay/don't bothered with the result, then some characters are not well written IMO. About the Dickson-Garcia plot, actually Dickson is a character from the "old plot" that is put as an extra in the final comic. In the first plan, there's no Roggar, Lyra or Space Pig, there's only Hyde, Milla, Eve, O'Wyld and Dickson.
Another thing if I may ask, I find it hot to know the age of all the characters so what would you guys say the age of all the characters would be? This is somewhat important to me. :P
Almost all of the characters are in their mid 20's and early 30's. Hyde should be 20, and Milla is a little bit older 21. Lyra is 28, Eve 32, Mave is 32. Mark is 31 Yvonne is the same as Hyde 20. And O Wyld is 65. Dickson is 69 Roggar ?? Space Pig ??

This was probably one of my favourite comics yet. While I feel the same as others in that more 'corruption' or 'transformation' of Lyra and Eve would have been nice -{after reading the author's comments, as is now makes more sense}- I most appreciated that it was a complete story with more than one "anti-heroine" --- most stories, I've read, would usually imply or just leave open Eve's subsequent corruption by Lyra.
Regardless of critiques, it was an excellent work.

Good job G9 and MP. A well done short story. After one read through i can say that you guys can disregard from much of the criticism you have got for this one. It is a short story and that means that there cant be that much of a deep story or long drawn out corruption scenes.
My suggestion for next time you do a short story, have fewer characters, dont be afraid to use textboxes to give us backstory so you can short down the need for conversations. In short stories you don't need a "complicated" in lack of better word, story. And fewer characters also saves you some pages. It's all about the corruption after all, thats the goal for the journey. The back story makes us like the character.
This was a good one, reminds a little of your older work. Much happend in one comic. Don't be afraid to do some like these from time to time.
When you think of our other short stories, we always did have fewer characters, so that is advice that is easy to follow. The only reason that this particular "short" story has considerably more characters is because it didn't use to be this particular story at all. Instead, it was the small, structured story with just a handful of characters that you speak of...but it wasn't a corruption story. As G9 mentioned above and as has been mentioned multiple times the past year, it used to be a story that only featured the events on Earth, an NTR story about O'Wyld mind controlling Milla to steal her for himself. All other characters and all the darker scenes were only added later to spice things up and use more of the potential that this story setting built around Zerion contained. From that moment on, it became clear to us that it wouldn't end up like our other short stories. It ended up becoming twice as big as planned, but it also has twice as many characters and twice as many storylines, so you could also consider Zerion as being two comics in one. ;)
As for your comment about the texboxes, that will continue to be something that you and I discuss. I can honestly tell you that I vividly recalled our previous discussions about them each time I wrote another textbox and ended up going agaian and again for a simple mentioning of the amount of time that had passed, almost to the point where I felt guilty for not doing more with them.
The thing is: it's just not my style to fill them with lots of describing sentences. I think that the pictures should tell the story and that letters are only there to say what the pictures alone can't say. I also see the huge textboxes in comics like those from Metrobay or Mccomix and such, and I simply don't feel that I can or even want to copy that style. (Note that I'm not implying that I think that you want me to copy those.) I feel that big textboxes are a chore to read. They hinder the reading experience, slowing the reading process down, asking the reader to focus his/her eyes on a huge mass of words in the corner of a picture. If we can prevent that, we'll do that.
Another reason is simply that my creativity with words just doesn't work that way. I have no problem coming up with multiple options to choose from for dialogue, but I find myself unable to come up with something interesting to describe a setting or a backstory. (And that's the same for G9, so I can't just simply work from his concept text and enhance that.)
You'll very likely continue to see our comics having a minimum of textboxes, filled with the bare minimum of relevant information that the pictures don't tell on their own. For example, pages 074 and 078 would normally have been "timeskip textbox" pages but didn't even get them because it could be worked into the dialogue. I think page 206 has the only box in the comic where I felt that more could be mentioned than just the timeskip and even that was kept as short as possible. Bottom line: it's a choice of style that both G9 and myself are most comfortable with.

Instead of injecting aphrodisiac, she should humiliate Eve by sex with Mave in front of Eve. That should severely break Eve. Up till then, Eve would give in.
The story of the corruption of Eve and the transformation of Mave are very short. Mave just made an appearence and then being transformed all of a sudden. At least, we would see some shot of Mave trying to struggle before becoming a mindless soldier. The corruption of female commander should be the main dish of all of the corruption-fans, right? We hope to see more plot and appearance on the newly corrupted Eve. Please, some more pics on Eve having sex with Roggar.
Overall, Zerion is an excellent work. Thanks G9 and Mpgrey.
P.S. If I have to rank the girls, I like Eve the most, followed by Lyra. Milla is not my cup of tea.

The problem with the plot is, Lyra has NO relationship with Mark, there's no special bound/emotion between them two. So, If I want to add your plot, I should add more story for them two, the result is the comic become too lengthy.
And for your second plot, I agree, that would make it more better >_< sorry...
Mave and Eve plot was added at the "injury time" actually. It was not part of the comic at the beginning. So, yes, it's a little bit rushed.

DeleteBy the way, don't worry about the people who say they didn't like that a character died or that such and such character didn't break out of her brainwash, if you trully love this theme you will get off on in having everyone stay currupted, it would be a waste and a turnoff if they didn't in the end. Also I though it was a shame that García didn't end up becoming mr Dickson's toy since it seemed very likely to be that he was a defector too just like professor o'wyld since he was the one who sent him to their base. I thought he was gonna get to fuck her or make her his plaything as a reward for helping the aliens conquer earth. I also though it was a very nice touch that Milla ended up pregnant at the end from her "husband". I wouldn't have had a problem with all of them getting pregnant! :P Love the NTR in this story too, sweet girl taken from her love and twisted. Although i liked her hair style more before she got turned, the short style up to her neck.
ReplyDeleteIf you're referring to some of the comments on e-hentai, then you're basically already telling the whole story. You would need to know about/understand/like the fetish to understand why the story has a bad ending and is basically giving the middle finger to the good guys.
DeleteLet's face it, that is the complete opposite of how stories usually progress.
But in this regard, these reactions actually only make me happy because it proves that the comic has been read by more people than just the ones with a thing for the fetish. If readers were rooting for Hyde while reading the comic, it means that it wasn't a run-of-the-mill, predictable story for them and/or that Hyde (or Mark) were convincing and interesting characters for them instead of just the random dudes in a comic they were only reading for the naked girls.
It's the goal of both G9 and myself to make comics that are interesting to read for more people than just the fetish readers, so if these seemingly "strange" reactions are coming, it looks like we succeeded in that part.
The more the reader "hate" the result of the NTR story, the better the characters are. If the reader seems okay/don't bothered with the result, then some characters are not well written IMO.
DeleteAbout the Dickson-Garcia plot, actually Dickson is a character from the "old plot" that is put as an extra in the final comic. In the first plan, there's no Roggar, Lyra or Space Pig, there's only Hyde, Milla, Eve, O'Wyld and Dickson.
Another thing if I may ask, I find it hot to know the age of all the characters so what would you guys say the age of all the characters would be? This is somewhat important to me. :P

DeleteThis was probably one of my favourite comics yet. While I feel the same as others in that more 'corruption' or 'transformation' of Lyra and Eve would have been nice -{after reading the author's comments, as is now makes more sense}- I most appreciated that it was a complete story with more than one "anti-heroine" --- most stories, I've read, would usually imply or just leave open Eve's subsequent corruption by Lyra.

DeleteGood job G9 and MP. A well done short story. After one read through i can say that you guys can disregard from much of the criticism you have got for this one. It is a short story and that means that there cant be that much of a deep story or long drawn out corruption scenes.
ReplyDeleteMy suggestion for next time you do a short story, have fewer characters, dont be afraid to use textboxes to give us backstory so you can short down the need for conversations. In short stories you don't need a "complicated" in lack of better word, story. And fewer characters also saves you some pages. It's all about the corruption after all, thats the goal for the journey. The back story makes us like the character.
This was a good one, reminds a little of your older work. Much happend in one comic. Don't be afraid to do some like these from time to time.
When you think of our other short stories, we always did have fewer characters, so that is advice that is easy to follow. The only reason that this particular "short" story has considerably more characters is because it didn't use to be this particular story at all. Instead, it was the small, structured story with just a handful of characters that you speak of...but it wasn't a corruption story. As G9 mentioned above and as has been mentioned multiple times the past year, it used to be a story that only featured the events on Earth, an NTR story about O'Wyld mind controlling Milla to steal her for himself.
DeleteAll other characters and all the darker scenes were only added later to spice things up and use more of the potential that this story setting built around Zerion contained. From that moment on, it became clear to us that it wouldn't end up like our other short stories.
It ended up becoming twice as big as planned, but it also has twice as many characters and twice as many storylines, so you could also consider Zerion as being two comics in one. ;)
As for your comment about the texboxes, that will continue to be something that you and I discuss. I can honestly tell you that I vividly recalled our previous discussions about them each time I wrote another textbox and ended up going agaian and again for a simple mentioning of the amount of time that had passed, almost to the point where I felt guilty for not doing more with them.
The thing is: it's just not my style to fill them with lots of describing sentences. I think that the pictures should tell the story and that letters are only there to say what the pictures alone can't say.
I also see the huge textboxes in comics like those from Metrobay or Mccomix and such, and I simply don't feel that I can or even want to copy that style. (Note that I'm not implying that I think that you want me to copy those.) I feel that big textboxes are a chore to read. They hinder the reading experience, slowing the reading process down, asking the reader to focus his/her eyes on a huge mass of words in the corner of a picture. If we can prevent that, we'll do that.
Another reason is simply that my creativity with words just doesn't work that way. I have no problem coming up with multiple options to choose from for dialogue, but I find myself unable to come up with something interesting to describe a setting or a backstory. (And that's the same for G9, so I can't just simply work from his concept text and enhance that.)
You'll very likely continue to see our comics having a minimum of textboxes, filled with the bare minimum of relevant information that the pictures don't tell on their own. For example, pages 074 and 078 would normally have been "timeskip textbox" pages but didn't even get them because it could be worked into the dialogue. I think page 206 has the only box in the comic where I felt that more could be mentioned than just the timeskip and even that was kept as short as possible.
Bottom line: it's a choice of style that both G9 and myself are most comfortable with.
I couldn't agree more with you, mpgrey: it's that style of G9/yours that makes me enjoy these comics.
