SHADOW RANGERS ZERO Part 2
It'll be a massive comic and also the one with the biggest budget I've ever made. So it'll need some time to be finished, please be patient... >_<
And I hope it will be a good bridge to finish Shadow Rangers epic saga in GAIA 6... hopefully...

Awesome as usual, it's a bit of a shame that Zero comes before Gaia which ended at such a great point... I have just one question, did you ever try to render toned or ripped girls? I mean Chun Li in your pictures has nice legs but they are not really ChunLi-esque, shouldn't they be muscular?

DeleteZero comes before GAIA 6 since there's so many "stories" need to be told before we end the saga in GAIA 6. There are too many background stories that won't fit in GAIA 6.

Haha, yes. In reality Chunli at least should be as ripped as those female UFC fighters (if not bigger). But I prefer her rather "normal" body on this parody.
So that's why You render Zero before GAIA... Makes perfect sense. You think You will manage to bridge this story with just single Zero chapter? Are You really going to make GAIA chapter the last one? Three corruptions in one chapter sounds like nuclear ending. Can't wait...
DeleteAh right I forgot about Lara. Your Li is still beautiful, can't wait to see her after corruption. I probably mind it only because I like muscular girls in corruption stories. It's pretty awesome when normal girl (prefferably shy/timid) grows powerful and her newfound power corrupts her until she is dominating, hulking, predatory and violent opposite of her former self...
Well, it's not really a single Zero chapter because we need two comics for it, but it was always meant as just one chapter.
DeleteIf it turns out as well as we have in mind, it should indeed answer all lingering questions and explain why everything turned out the way it did in SR and GR without leaving any paradoxes or other inconsistencies.
Also, I am not convinced at all that Gaia 6 will be the last chapter of that series. If experience has taught as anything, it's that stories always become bigger than intended when actually working on it. ^_^
Can't say I'm bothered by the fact that we have yet to see more than one chapter of GAIA Ranger. ;P
DeleteI know that it may be too early to ask such questions but since You can already see the ending of both GAIA and Zero, does it mean that You already have ideas for next series, if so then could You say something about it?
As far as I know (G9 will have to confirm this for himself), there are no plans already for something big after Gaia is done. That is probably for the best too so that there are no distractions when working to give SR0 and Gaia the epic endings they deserve.
DeleteBut let's not forget about the Pretty G Soldiers. That is also a series that still needs to be continued and one that we also really want to continue.
So far, PGS is the only thing waiting for us after SR0 and Gaia. But given our working speed and our tendency to get distracted by shorter stories, who knows when we'll actually need to think of entire new big projects.

ReplyDeleteThat would not make sense because Leona's sister (Laura) gets transformed that way in Gaia 5 and the SR0 story takes place in the past.

DeleteWe had planned to release the deleted scene a week or so before the release of SR0-2 in order to build a little hype and remind the reader again about the first half that was released more than a year ago already.
You shouldn't it will just distract the attention from the release of SR0 part 2.
DeleteI do not think that will be the case because we're just talking about 30 or so pages: nowhere near enough to give the reader enough of what he wants.
DeleteIn fact, I presume we'll need to add an introduction page to explain the reason we're releasing a "comic" that's just one scene to all the e-hentai readers who aren't familiar with the story behind it. We can easily include a little sales pitch for the upcoming SR0-2.

DeleteI'm not sure it's a good idea. The part of the comics atteacting the most people are the corruption/sex scene. If you give one that's better than the ones we see in SR0 people will make you know about it...
I'm not sure how to reply to this because this is a worry of mine as well. The last thing we need is everyone saying in unison "Wow, this one is so much better! Why didn't you use this instead?"
DeleteStill, it seems like such a waste to have 30 "finished" pages ready and not share them with the public.
The corruption/sex part of the deleted scene is likely better than the replacing scene that ended up in the comic (due to not having to hold back with Megan), but the story part is far worse with the deleted scene nullifying the importance of at least two previous scenes and Megan acting out of character and just giving up in a weird manner.
But as you say, it's a question with an obvious answer asking whether people care more about the money scenes than about the story.
Even so, a "what if" story is not a new concept and it never stopped people from mistaking the alternate canon material for the real canon material.
An option would be to only release it here on the blog and not as an "official" release, but the experience with the Violet concept showed us that it will eventually end up on e-hentai anyway.

DeleteEarlier today, the beta version of the commissioned comic featuring ChunLi and Mai was completed. Now it's just a matter of updating the text and work on a select few pictures...and then we have a new project (65 pages) ready for release!

ReplyDeleteWe'll still need a lot of time for SR0-2. We haven't done all that much in 2015 so far because the prime focus was on the ChunLi/Mai commission.
DeleteI am positive though that we'll be able to surprise ourselves again when we get into a good groove again and be able to solely concentrate on it and quickly get the pages together.
As it is currently though, we're not even halfway unfortunately.
It looks awesome. I just hope you don't put too much sex scenes not related to corruption. I don't see the purpose of having those unrelated scenes too long if it takes the place of corruption sex scenes.

DeleteIn case of SR0-2, it will be something to keep in mind because the entire comic will likely be pretty big regardless. It will be impossible to get it right for everyone because every reader is looking for something different.
Everybody looks for sexual corruption scenes regardless. Especially for SR-0.
DeleteThat's why we love G9's comics: he can go further than your average cartoon or movie and really give us the corruptions we never got there.
It'd be a shame if now it just loses the reader by losing its core / original purpose.

We try to go for balance, not forgetting that we're making corruption fetish-themed stories, while also not doing the same trick over and over which would lead to predictable patterns.
With that said, I'm the first to agree with you that "just sex" scenes have the lowest priority of the three.

There are times when I worry about the direction the comics go toward, but I'm relieved to see you understand the readers.

No need for anyone here to keep it down. Other anonymous: no need to apologize for being bothersome or involved. That's exactly what this blog is for. Anyone here should feel encouraged to give his/her honest opinion about a comic you just read, or about an upcoming comic.
DeleteWe release these comics for free: feedback (any sort of it) is all that we can get back in return.
So feel free to tell us if you're thinking that it's looking promising or worrisome. Even posts that drive us into the corner about what we're doing are welcome. After all, why wouldn't you be allowed to have a different opinion than we do?
To get back to this particular discussion, it is a fact that the comics have changed a lot since the earliest days, because there is now a much bigger focus on story. No matter the length of the entire comic, we try to at least present a story that makes all the events make sense and (attempts) to make you care about the characters, as opposed to have the story be little more than an excuse to weave some hot scenes together.
This is a change in direction that not every reader is happy about because it would make the comics too "softcore" and lose their initial appeal.
G9 and I don't think that this is an automatic result and don't think that there is nothing to enjoy anymore for the fans of "hardcore", but regardless, this is still the way that we prefer to make the comics.
Even so, a comic with nothing but story is not what you're here for, so there are still lots of adult scenes. But, and this is something that is questioned both here and before, sex without corruption processes is just sex... and we are here for corruption.
This is the balance that must be gotten right in each and every comic.
If each corruption scene is being built up with sex, then followed by the corruption itself and a possible tf, and then finished with more sex...then we're just one-trick ponies repeating the same pattern over and over.
Some of you may not care about this and will be pleased with the hot scenes this will produce, but others (including G9 and I) will be left wanting more variety.
That's why you'll also find "just sex" scenes and "just corruption" scenes in our comics. It's up to everyone's interpretation to feel that the corruption was too light and a wasted chance to make it more hardcore or to feel that the sex scene was unnecessary, tacked on and wasted pages that should have been put into something else.
To explain this with an example from SR0-1, some of you commented that the yuri scene between Gina and Risa was unnecessary and added nothing. We, on the other hand, specifically included it to show a different side and more (literally ^^) of these two characters because we have plans for them, and it also gave us a way to give Gina some personal business with Megan. In other words, this "just sex" scene also had character building and storytelling functions.
Different interpretations apparently can give readers reasons to worry that we forgot what we are actually making, but in the end, you'll still end up with an erotic corruption-themed comic in your virtual hands.
It is ironic though, that the upcoming ChunLi/Mai comic falls into a different category and is a much more "classic" G9comic with little story and a much heavier focus on adult action.
And fighting scenes! ^_^

ReplyDeleteIt is a possibility that we'll get it done this week. A size of 65 pages is small enough to make this possible. It will this time also depend on the available time of the commissioner because he, of course, also has a say in the matter concerning the finishing touches.

ReplyDeletebecause the picture has a lot of Little "errors" e.g. the 6 Picture, with the Girl with the Green hair ! her left hand is in the "Body" of the Man! ( how many finger can you see?). or the right eyes of picture 5 etc.
Do you think, that it is a good Idea that you have work an the model form Part one too two?

DeleteWe don't even have a clue how many pages SR0 will have in the end, let alone how many pictures. All I can say is that our style remains the same with pages usually containing between 3 and 5 pictures.
I'm sorry to say that I don't understand your other question. Are you suggesting that the models should be rebuilt?
